When a seven-foot bush ranger greets you for dinner, you know you are in for something different. Dunk your vegemite damper into Ned’s kangaroo tail “soup of yesterday”. Although Stringy Bark Creek chook (thankfully) does not live up to its name, you won’t be disappointed if you “steak out” the game grill with it’s spread of roo, emu, buffalo, camel and wallaby. Seafood takes the form of yabbies in Kerry’s award-winning garlic sauce; while croc is served on paper bark. Desserts looked better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick

Ned Kelly is a local hero. He is a kind of Robin Hood. He stood up for the poor people. The story goes that he was some kind of bandit and he went to jail. But it all was doubtfull that he did all this steeling, assault, etc.
This is the Kelly story:
1854 Ned Kelly was born at Beveridge
1864 Kelly family move to Avenel
1865 May: Ned's father gaoled in Kilmore
1865 December 27th: Ned's father dies and buried at Avenel
1866 Ned rescues boy from drowning at Avenel, awarded a sash for bravery
1867 August: Mrs Kelly moves her family to Greta
1869 Mrs Kelly selects land at Eleven Mile Creek
1870 Ned carged at Benalla and Kyneton for aiding Bushranger "Harry Power", Ned spends time in Beechwort prison for assault
1871 Ned receives 3 years hard labour for possession of a stolen horse
1878 April: the Constable Fitzpatrick encounter at the Kelly Homestead
1878 October: shooting of 3 police at STringy Bark Creek, near Tolmie; police buried in Mansfield Cemetery
1879 February: held up Jerilderie Bank in NSW
1880 June 28: captured by police during 12 hour seige at Glenrowan
1880 November 11: Ned hanged at the Old Melbourne Gaol

At the restaurant you will find different kind of memorabilia from the time Ned Kelly lived. The menu has different kind of funny meals, like gaol break, kelly brother's 500g steak, judge Barry's fillet mignon and grandma Quinn's jolly jumbuck. The price of the main menu's start at $22.50 for meat eaters and $16.90 for vegetarians.

Favorite Dish: I had the Ned's Camembert Delight. This is: coated in fine nuts, dep fried and served on a bed of fresh fruit & salad. Great vegetarian meal.
