Anyone lives in Adelaide would have known a wicked cafe' called SPATS. It used to be a 'must go' for tourists or locals specially lovers who want to have a good time with nice drinks and/or light meals. I used to go there a lot. This place has a unique decoration with a pre-historic cash register (with the sign "do not touch"). There used to be an old man who will welcome you in and give you a warm smile when taking orders. He's not there anymore, there's a rumor that he's already dead and the restaurant is taken over by someone else. Funny but true, I went there last year during October and found that the service in this funky cafe has changed. The waiter and waitress treat you like you were in a Chinese restaurant. Not that they are Chinese then they make you feel that but they will come to take dirty plates so quick, you haven't even finished your crepe or a little bit of cream on the plate, here they come, "finished?" I feel this exceeds my tolerant level. We're not in rush and the place wasn't busy, why so quick, why so pushie?
We went there again last month and found that one customer has to order one thing, it's a must so let's say you can't go there with your friends and don't feel like eating or drinking anything. You're not allowed to sit there without any orders. Even three of you want to order 2 big desserts to share between you three, no, you have to order three things. What a ridiculous rule they've made. And of course, no offense, all waitresses, waiters are giving you Chinese restaurant service style.
We ban this cafe even though it used to be a nice place to go and we used to go there a lot. But the one order rule is a bit too much.
Favorite Dish: Crepes, cocktails

Spats Coffee Lounge is like an experience you just have to have. If you anywhere in Adelaide it has to be here.
The decor is slightly burlesque with lots of rich red, old wallpaper and dim lighting yet it is still quite classy.
There are many little nooks you can sit in and there is a larger area that we managed to squeeze 21 or so people into but it was very tight. It's a great little place to go for a couple as it can be quite romantic.
The menu has verity of different items on it but they are known for their extravagant desserts. The presentation of the food is like nothing I have ever seen before and you almost don't want to eat it because it looks so good. Not only that, it tastes great!!
This is a must go location! Trust me, you'll love it.
I think they are open every night from 6pm till late.
Favorite Dish: Last time I was here I had crêpes with ice cream! It was fantastic.

A vaguely 'eastern' undertone to this cafe/restaurant. It is richly decorated with plush couches, pillows and cushions, heavy drapes and screens - sectioning off booths - and an amazing old gold cash register!
Favorite Dish: Their enormous milkshakes with loads of cream, straws, and other bits and pieces... YUM!
