During the tour, we had lunch in Kaesler Restaurant that belongs to Kaesler Winery. This really was a change for my backpacker's stomach! It was a really luxurious lunch. I was a vegetarian at the time and had a delicious dish of fettuccini with cream sauce and mushrooms. There was chocolate cake for dessert. I suppose that if I had been vegan at the time I would have chosen the wedges with chili sauce.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice, it is a somewhat rustic country style, but yet very elegant and nicely decorated.
It was nice that this was included in the tour as usually I never go to such restaurants :-)

Enjoy lunch in this tranquil setting. Maggie Beer's products are stocked in places like Harrods London and while you're in the Barossa Valley you deserve a lunch stop at her "farm".
The Farm Shop provides a place for snug long lunches or coffee and chats all year round. The Pheasant Farm Restaurant actually won a string of awards culminating in the 1991 Remy Martin Cognac/Australian Gourmet Traveller Restaurant of the Year. The highest award given in the industry in Australia.

A nice little cafe/restaurant, you can sit outside or in. Good Italian food.
Favorite Dish: I had the penne pasta with bolognaise sauce and it was great.
The most exciting thing about this place was the maps of Europe and the world the lady had on the wall. They had little tags all over them, we asked her and she said they represent where she has been, where her customers have come from and places where Taunda residents were born. Not surprisingly there were a lot of Germans.

Think rolling hills dotted with magestic old chalets, cellar doors with the charm of yesteryear, quaint little towns, rows and rows of vines, and of course wine, and you are in the Barossa Valley!

I love food so here's a pic of my Lamb Curry pie at the Lyndoch Bakery on the way to the Barossa Valley. I had this with Coopers Light and a glass of Kiels Shiraz.
