This is another farm where filming took place, it was used for different purposes. The building you see in pictures 1 and 2 were used for Drovers Run, for scenes involving sheep.
The silos in picture 3 will be known to most of the people who watched the show: This is where Tess fell into a silo and almost died, but was rescued by Nick (what a romantic moment ;-) ).
The small silo you see in picture 4 was used for this scene as well: While the big silo was seen from the outside, the actress was actually in the small silo where she could stand, so the shots within the silo were filmed in the small one.
I found it very interesting to learn these things!
Picture 5 of course shows the infamous sign that was put up after Phil Rakich had bought the truck stop.

This is the building that was used as Wilgul, Nick Ryan's own farm. It was amazing to arrive there and to recognize it immediately!
However, a funny thing we learned was that the garden of the building was in fact used as the garden of Killarney, Alex Ryan's farm.
The indoor scenes of Killarney were filmed at an elegant property that cannot be visited by tourists, and to film there was very expensive, so most Killarney scenes take place in the garden, and were actually filmed here.
And yes, it is right: If you think about it, there actually were not that many indoor scenes, but usually the characters were walking on green lawns when they were on Killarney!
Pictures 1 to 3 show the building, while picture 4 shows the garden. The steps on picture 5 featured in a funny scene: Harry was training and doing sports here in order to get fit for his new, young wife Sandra ;-)

On their verandah, the owners have a big shelf that is full of props from the show. They bought these props after filming had ended.
It was very interesting to see these props and to recognize them all! Just plain weird!
Picture 1: The statue that stood in Claire's office on Drovers Run
Picture 2: The cup that Tayler and Patrick broke
Picture 3: The sculpture of the woman from town who Alex and Nick were after
Picture 4: The statue of Joseph Rakich, Phil Rakich's ancestor
Picture 5: A road sign of the fictional town of Fisher, the biggest town near Gungellan

During the tour, we also visited several small filming locations on the way from Gawler to Freeling. In fact, I am not sure where exactly they were, and if they were closer to Gawler or to Freeling, so I am just putting them all in this one tip instead of making a tip for each.
If you want to find these locations, have a look if you spot some on the main road!
Picture 1: This is the tunnel where Matt and Jodi were hiding from the killer.
Picture 2: This is the place where they drove the car into the river and Riley died.
Picture 3: This place was also used several times, for example when Grace ended her relationship to Heath and left his car to walk home alone.
Picture 4: This tree was used several times - for example, Meg started a campaign to save it from being felled ...and Alex had his annoying wee here when he drove Sandra to town ;)
Picture 5: This piece of the main road was always used when a long, straight road was needed - so basically for all major driving scenes.
It was a really crazy feeling to be driving along the street, the guide pointing at something every few minutes: "This is where this happened... This is where that happened... Oh, and this is where they were filming that scene!"
You really see that all scenes were filmed in this region, and what strong local ties the series has to the area. The local economy must have profited much from it, and I hope that it further does so when tourists visit to see the filming locations.

We also visited the building that was used as the cottage of Killarney, where Alex, Nick and Dave lived after the brothers had moved out of the main building after a fight with their father.
This is private property of course, so please, if you visit, don't walk around like mad and don't try to get into buildings.
Unfortunately, again I don't know where this is exactly located - somewhere between Gawler and Freeling, but I don't have an address.

Picture 2: Charlotte's swing
Picture 3: This is the shed where Grace tells Marcus that Alex has died.
I also took some pictures of the landscape around that I have put into this travelogue

Freeling - McLeods Country Tour Part I

The 10th of December was a day I had dreamed of for a long time: I did a McLeod's Daughters tour, to visit the places where this Australian TV series was filmed. Usually I am not a person who watches...
