After exiting from the Panorama room, we were led to another room which is included in the admission price.
This room is known as the "Outback on Canvas" room, and its here we saw massive panoramic paintings depicting local South Australian scenes.
Our first painting was the 20ft long "Cooper Creek Sunset", a spectacular and peaceful view of the Cooper Creek at sunset.
Probably the best one is the 50ft long "Ron's Creek", depicting a dry creek bed on Wonoka Station with the rugged Elder Range in the background and enormous Red Gums in the foreground. Look at it from either end, and the view changes, it's painted very cleverly and is a beautiful painting. This painting made me feel I could step into it, and be part of the scene!
All of these paintings are on stretched canvas, so are easily transportable and are for sale, therefore new panoramas replace the old as they are sold.

This was new since my last visit to Hawker.
We paid our admission, then entered a circular room where a continuous painting of the Flinders Ranges is painted on the wall. Climbing the stairs to reach the viewing platform, the idea is that your are on top of St. Mary's Peak, the Flinders Ranges highest mountain, and are enjoying the view over the rest of the ranges.
The Artist [Jeff Morgan], actually climbed St. Marys peak and took many continuous photos so he could paint the panorama just how he saw it.
It is painted exactly to scale. Landmarks seen in the painting are Wilpena Pound, the Bunkers, Elder Range, and the ABC & Heysen Ranges.
Taking 13 months and 4000 hours of work, he completed the Wilpena Panorama and has done a wonderful painting!

The gift shop at the Wilpena Panorama had the most wonderful original paintings and prints for sale, plus much more.
I found the prices to be very reasonable. If I was from overseas, I would be buying something from here to take back home!
