At 4pm every day there is bird feeding down at the wharf.
Usually there are several Australian Pelicans and a few Pacific Gulls that show up for a free meal.

Each evening at 7:30pm and 8:30 they take people on a Discovering Penguins walk.
These leave from the Ozone hotel.
It is always late evening before the Penguins return from their days out at sea.
It is very noisey when they return because the babies have been left home alone all day and really hungry by now.

Probably the best restaurant in town, Ellson's Seaview Guest House has a very nice dining room, nice view, and very friendly owner . The restaurant has been in the same family for years.
The restaurant is noted for its ornamental ceilings.
Favorite Dish: The present owner has a Malaysian wife so there are a few malay dishes on the menu as well as very good seafood and other local dishes.

Kingscote Gift Shop is quite a large shop with all types of Australian crafts plus it is the place to go for tourist information.
We bought several jars of Kangaroo Island Honey. It was delicious.

Between Kingscote and Penneshaw there is a nice bay where you can watch the Pelicans.
There is Pelican feeding there every evening at 4:30. You get a free bucket of fish to feed to them.
The American River is a holiday settlement so you see a lot of nice boats as well.

Reeves Point Historical Site is very pretty spot with a nice lawn and shade trees.
The point itself is a good spot to look for waterbirds.
This was one of our favorite places to hang out.

Favorite thing: Every evening the little Penguins come ashore, back from their day at sea.
This goes on all year round but more are seen in the summer months, when they are raising their young.
they arrive almost like clock work,a few minutes after sunset.
You are permitted to have a camera but no flash so since it is dark it is hard to get a good photograph.
This picture is a postcard that I bought while on the island.
