When driving through Lochiel from Adelaide towards Port Augusta, look to your right at the salt lakes and you'll see that the locals either have a wicked sense of humour or the salt is really getting to them.
Some enterprising person has recycled some old tyres into the local version of the Loch Ness Monster.
It makes a nice break from driving. Just watch out for the flies near the roadside. For some reason they're especially plentiful here.
If you're lucky, you may see the pink hue in the surface of the lakes. Some days it looks like flamingoes have been washing in there - it's that pink!
