I don't write online reviews. Tonight's experience at caffe belgiorno was bad enough to make me get online and write. As the title says: appalling service (75 minutes for my basic pasta meal), poor food (still a nasty taste in my mouth) and a rather horrible encounter with the manager at the end of the night who told me I was an unreasonable man and that the customer is not always right. I walked out and got online immediately.

A great place that allows you to BYO alcoholic beverages.
Big variety of dishes at a great price.
Sometimes the service can be a bit average, but the cheap food makes up for it.
Favorite Dish: Satay Prawns
Toffee Banana and icecream - unreal!

This place wqas very relaxing. Across the road from the Cave Gardens . It has an atrium you can sit out in and watch the world go by.
Favorite Dish: I had the Barbecue Steak Facoccia For $13.45 I felt it was a little over priced but still very enjoyable It can with a marinated piece of rib fillet plus salad

This is right up there in the Mount as one of the best places to eat in style. The decor is traditional without being too old fashioned, with a cosy log fire and beautiful woodern chairs.
Not a huge restaurant so it is not over crowded and loud.
Favorite Dish: They change the menu fairly regularly, but my all time fave is the Marengo Skin, which is brest chicken pieces simmered in a tomato based sauce, and served in a wholed out potato. Delicious!!
Open on Wednesday & Thursday. Open for dinner Tuesday to Saturday nights, seats 65.

This place specialises in relaxed after work drinks, quick light lunches, and large parties or get togethers with you mates. On 3 levels, this place is great. I come here quite a lot, especially before the movies as it is right next door.
Favorite Dish: I love the chicken salad. Also a chicken dish I can't recall the name of. Desserts are awesome too.

A great new restaurant in the heart of the city. Uses local ingredients to create a rather interesting mix of flavours. I like to drop in here for a coffee and relax on the couches in the upstairs areas.
Favorite Dish: I didn't find too much that I really loved, there is not a lot of chicken on the menu. But if you like beef you will be fine. For lunch the other day I had a sensational Moroccan Lamb open sandwich. Really worth having.

Great newish restaurant, first Indian one in town. I love indian, and these guys do a great job. The decor is nice, welcoming service and very friendly. It is not by any means a flash or very attractive looking restaurant, but the food is great!
Favorite Dish: I love Chicken Tikka, last time I went my friend had extra hot Beef Vindaloo and it really was hot. Butter Chicken in nice too if you don't like hot. Papadums with mint ratia are the best!

The Spud Train is a little van set up down the main street and sells the bestest ever spuds.
Great for a quick take away, or on the way home after a hard night on the town!!
Favorite Dish: You can small or large jacket potatos with all kinds of fillings. From ham, coleslaw, cheese, sour cream, garlic or plain butter, to baked beans and salsa!

This place has the reputation as being THE place to get a steak. They have many different cuts on the menu.. and one chicken and one fish dish! Not the place to go if you are a vegetarian. I think you would just be able to get a salad.
Favorite Dish: Tuscan Chicken is unreal!! The wine list is so huge it is fantastic - and most of it local from Coonawarra. My fave to go with the chicken is Hollicks Savignon Blanc Semillion. Yummo!!

As well as having many really good restaurants and cafes, you can still get a typical pub meal at the many pubs in town. Rather than give them each a separate tip, here are a list of my fave places to get a decent pub meal at a decent price!
Jackson's at The Commersh - Commerical Street West
Bertha's Grill at the Park Hotel - Commerical Street East
Jens Hotel - Commercial Street West - enter opposite the Cave Gardens
The Federal Hotel - Commerical Street West
Favorite Dish: Chicken snitzel and chippies!
