What to buy:
If you're after art from local artists in the 'Gateway to the Outback' as Port Augusta is known as, go to any of the local hotels, pub or club and have a meal.
Generally speaking, all of the artwork you see adorning the walls will be available for sale. Just ask your waiter/ waitress for details.
You'll find paintings of the local landscape, abstract art or still life compositions in all sizes and styles here. Ask around because some paintings are also available unframed.
If you don't see what you're after, the staff should be able to point you in the direction of someone who does.
What to pay: Because they're not in a gallery with the associated overheads, you'll find the prices surprisingly inexpensive.
