Botanical cafe: Dinner with the ducks at Botanical Gardens

Eat lunch while Australian Wood Ducks walk between your feet. The Botanical garden's cafe is very nice but a little on the expensive side. The food however is very good and of course being a botanical garden its in beautiful surroundings. The cafe serves take away foods along with ice creams and soft drinks

Closing times of the park vary throughout the year:

January - 1900.
February - 1830.
March - 1830.
April - 1800.
May - 1730.
June - 1700.
July - 1700.
August - 1730.
September - 1800.
October - 1830.
November - 1830.
December - 1900

Favorite Dish: I like their wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli. They normal have a selection of really nice cakes as well.

Take away to fine dining at Edithburg

There are several places to eat in the main street of Edithburgh. There are a couple of take away places that offer chips, pies and pasties etc. For something a little more substancal there are to pubs offering counter meals. They both get very busy in high season so you need to book. Lastly there is a restaurant offering fine dining and a couple of cafes where you can get coffee and cake.

Fast Foods: Eating on the grass at Victor Habour

Victor Harbour offers a wide choice when it comes to food. If you are looking for fast foods then you can visit the vendors which park their vans on the grass close to the beach.

Favorite Dish: My favourite is the strawberry and cream van which sell delicious pancakes, ice cream and strawberries.

The Big Lobster: Absolutely filthy restaurant

I especially drove hundreds of kms to Kingston on the coast of S.A. see this restaurant and enjoy its speciality - crayfish. I had seen pictures on the web and thought - this I must see. Ouside is a 17 metre lobster standing proudly to tempt the tourist. My mouth was watering. We went in and to our surprise the restaurant was empty. It was obvious that at some stage a fair bit of money had been spent on it but the overall appearance was shabby. A little lady appeared behind the counter when we rang the bell and asked what we would like. We had seen whole fresh crays advertised for as little as $10 on the roadside but the least expensive item on the menu was a lobster sandwich at roughly $25.00. We found ourselves a possie (after moving several times when we found the tables had not been wiped down and then, having been on the road for some hours, looked for the loos. Never, ever, ever in my life have I been in such a filthy restroom. I felt ill and fled using my elbow to open the smeared door out. When I got back to my table, our sandwiches had arrived - two half pieces of white bread and and what could only be measured as approximately two tablespoons of crayfish - not tail, just innside skinny leg pieces. There was a leaf of lettuce and (I counted them) eight fries - the smell of the rancid cooking fat overwhelmed us. I was really hungry but I couldn't touch that plate I had dreamed about. We fled.

Favorite Dish: Nothing

HMS Buffalo: Restaurants a la carte

HMS Buffalo

Glenelg, the only word you have to know if you want to eat in Adelaide. Simply pop down to Jetty Street and take your choice of international cuisine with a slight leaning to Italian.
There is also the new marina where every second shop is a dining outlet and, if all that is insufficient, you could try the HMS Buffalo, a replica of an historical ship that has been set up as a restaurant cum function centre.

At the foot of the causeway is a small kiosk and souvenir shop. They sell the usual hot stuff like pies and pasties as well as drink and ice creams.
