We are now at no 8 on the walking trail, and I was surprised to see these old ruins! It did look like they were in the process of being restored.
This was where Silesian farmer, "Franz Weikert," and his wife lived.
Construction of the house began in 1865, and was built over three stages, eventually being completed in 1870. The Jesuits brought Franz and his wife to Sevenhil, when they were no longer able to maintain their farm. They stayed close to the Jesuits until Franz died in 1875.
This cemetery is located on College Road about 1 km from Sevenhill.
It's here where you will find many of the old pioneer's buried, the oldest grave dates to 1872.
Two local idenities buried here, joined St. Mary MacKillop, as Sisters of St. Joseph and the founder of the first Catholic settlement in the Clare Valley.
An old house in ruins on the walking tour at Sevenhill Cellars, belonged to the "Weikerts," and it's here, in the top RH corner of the cemetery where there grave is located.
What I thought was quite sad, was a memorial to all the un-named and named children buried in this cemetery.
The Marian Shrine is no 9 on the walking trail at Sevehill Cellars.
Located in what was originally a smoke house for the Jesuits, is the white statue of Mary, Mother of Jesus.
Jesuits that had completed their final year, converted the smoke house into this lovely shrine.
