Pandemelon

If you are staying in the Cradle Mountain area, the real local inhabitants will be attracted by light and come really close to you. Or I should say, you are trepassing THEIR rightful territory. PLEASE BE A RESPONSIBLE WORLD TRAVELLER - DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS. Wild animals should never been taught to rely on humans travellers as a source of food.

During my stay at the lodge, possums, pandemelons & wombats all crossed my path. We woke up one morning to 2 wombats playing behind our cabin and 1 sleepy pandemelon right outside our flight of stairs. In fact, the possums had gotten so used to the human presence that they will take spot at your door or at your window peering in. It was thrilling to come so close to these wild creatures, separated only by a pane of glass. My mates and I had a wonderful time just amusing ourselves with their presence.

When you are driving around at Tasmania, it could happen that a tree will fall down on the road. Throw the biggest parts away and you can pass on.
