    3rd weekend in February

The Evandale Village Fair is held annually and features a full program of Penny Farthing racing including the National Penny Farthing Championship. The streets of the village come alive with stalls and street entertainers, creating the ambience of a colonial country fair.

The one day event, is held each February. The emphasis is on participation and enjoyment. The picturesque village of Evandale near Launceston in Tasmania has hosted this event for the past 20 years.

An example of housing in Launceston

This is not a cultural tip exactly, but I just wanted to show you a pic of one of a whole strip of houses I found, built high backed flush against rocky cliffs in Launceston (not far from the tourist attraction of Pennyroyal Village).

I'd never seen two storied Victorian and Edwardian houses anywhere else before, and they were rather attractive in the sun with all their brightly painted faces.
