DRIVING ANYWHERE TAKES FOREVER

honestly...everyone told us this before we left...that driving takes forever to get anywhere. When we first landed in devonport...with beautifully paved roads...we thought everyone was embellishing the truth. Once you get away from the main cities (within kms)...it gets windy and narrow. If you get stuck behind a truck or slow car...it can take forever to be able to pass.So..please don't be deceived...and think you can drive around the island in a few days...it's just not possible. What we decided to do with our 4 days...is to just visit the east coast. Even though we were busting a move everyday...we really felt like we had a great taste of tassie. If we would have more time...we'd love to go to cradle mountain... and then split up time to head to freycinet. We have also heard great things about the west coast. But with what we wanted as it was cold (hiking, troutfishing, wine and...

Chain Bakery Cafe/Restaurants

This isn’t too bad a trap, but something I noticed when buying lunch one day. Banjo’s is a Bakery café/restaurant chain found all over Tassie. The range of food and pies is more extensive than a lot of privately owned bakeries, but I discovered you also pay twice as much. I recommend if you see a small bakery, go for that over the large ones.
