Bendigo has one of Australia’s oldest operating tramways which has in its collection some 34 Vintage Trams. The complex was built between 1901-3. On a daily basis, 12 Vintage Trams conduct the ‘Talking Tram” tour around Bendigo with a taped commentary relating the history and background of many of the old and very grand buildings. The round trip will take you 8.4 kms commencing at the Central Deborah Mine although you can get on at any of the stops.

Bendigo is about 160 km north-west from Melbourne. You can drive from Melbourne via the Calder Highway in about 2 hours or take the V/Line trains which operate a daily service to Bendigo. Melbourne Airport and Bendigo are connected by a regular bus service 3 times daily and several tour companies also operate tours to Bendigo.
