If you want a game of cards
or if you are in to dancing,
or computer classes,
you can come to a local community centre at night.
Apart from the community centres and the neighborhood houses, there is not much night time activity that happens in Corio / Norlane. If you want the night life you need to go in to the city of Geelong and check out our new, old and revamped night clubs.

Corio and Norlane have two major hotels on the Princes Highway.
Gateway Hotel / Acyes Bistro is the first hotel you will come to - it is in Corio.
When you come through Lara (from Melbourne) on the Princes Highway, the next suburb you come to as you enter Geelong is Corio.
Gateway Hotel / Acyces Bistro is on the left hand side of the road as you come in to Corio. You need to come past Beckley Park (on your right hand side) and then Harvey Norman and Bunnings on your left hand side. When you come to the intersection of Purnell Road and Princes Highway you are nearly there.
After this major intersection you need to enter the service lane and follow the service lane down to the entrance to Gateway Hotel. Gateway Hotel has a restaurant - Ayces Bistro, entertainment - Pokies venue and Karaoke nights, and accomodation - their are motel rooms at the back of the hotel.
Dress Code:
Neat casual dress - no thongs or singlets.
The Sphinx Hotel is on Thompson Rd, North Geelong (there are about four or five suburbs that are called Northern Geelong including Corio, Norlane, Bell Park, North Geelong, Bell Post Hill and Drumcondra - all these suburbs are on the northern side of Geelong).
The Sphinx Hotel is probably one of only a few pubs (hotels) that has kept its original Bar for the locals to come in for a drink. A lot of our pubs have lost their old charm of the Bar where the man could go for a drink after work.
The Sphinx Hotel is almost at the corner of Ballarat Road and Thompson Rd, North Geelong. It used to be called the Golf View Hotel as it overlooked the Geelong Golf Course. Sadly the Geelong Golf Course has been closed. The Golf View has been renamed the Sphinx Hotel.
Thursday nights you can go to the Sphinx and sing Karaoke. Most nights of the week you can go in to the bar and have a game of pool - there are two large pool tables there. Some nights there are discos - or over 35s - not sure of what dance is on which night so I will update this page when I find out more.
The Sphinx Hotel has accomodation - motel rooms.
There is a bottle shop attached to the Hotel.
And yes they have pokies - there is not many places you can go to now where there are no pokies machines. Sadly!
The lounge serves yummy meals for lunch and tea. There is a play area for children. There is also outdoor dining - weather permitting.
A very entertaining venue for all the family.
Dress Code:
Generally neat dress - no thongs, no singlets (for the guys) and just dress neatly.
