Nothing more than a spread out little town on the northern edge of the lake, predominantly made up of holiday homes and a caravan park, Bonnie Doon is exceptionally popular weekend retreat, populated by water sport enthusiasts. The shoreline has retreated considerably, with tracks down to the shoreline providing simple access to the water for fresh water swimming.
It was also made popular as the location for the 1997 film 'The Castle'.
