The George Pentland Botanic Gardens are a great place to spend a few hours. There are large grassy areas and plenty of beautiful native gum trees in the park, along with some play equipment for the kids. It's a lovely place for a stroll or a picnic and has barbecue facilities as well.

The beaches at Frankston are beautiful and sweeping. There are often harmless jellyfish in the shape of a donut washed up on the beach (When I was a kid we used to step on them because they felt so disgusting) but they just add to the charm of it. I have never seen these jellyfish anywhere else. You can walk along the beach for ages and it's never crowded, even in summer. A great place for fish and chips and a paddle afterwards. There's a nice park just above it in one area where you can look down at the beach if you don't want to picnic on the beach.
