Set Sail with James Craig (not Jenny's Brother)

by ATXtraveler Updated Apr 4, 2011

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Geelong has a major history as a port for the travellers on their way to Victoria from all parts. If you are interested in the historical voyages made, you may look into the timetable for the tall ship, James Craig. The James Craig has a history with Victoria, visiting for its first time in 1892, while it was a mere teenager.

James Craig is the only 19th century iron barque still operational in the southern hemisphere and one of only four in the world; a great testament to the dedication of the Sydney Heritage fleet and the many people involved in the restoration since 1972.

The ship will join Polly Woodside in Victoria as the property of the National Trust of Australia.

She will actually have passenger berths, so check out the website!

    AVALON AIRPORT SHUTTLE

by nezz Written Mar 4, 2008

GREAT DOOR TO DOOR TRANSPORT TO GEELONG ,BELLARINE, SURF COAST & GREAT OCEAN ROAD FROM AVALON AIRPORT. THEY MEET ALL JETSTAR FLIGHTS NO MATTER HOW LATE THEY ARE EVEN IF DELAYED.
WE GOT THIS MINIBUS FOR $18 PER HEAD TO THE BEST WESTERN GEELONG MOTOR INN ABOUT A 30 MINUTE RIDE SOUTH OF AVALON AIRPORT ALONG THE PRINCESS HWY.
THIS WAS A VERY CONVENIENT WAY TO TRAVEL AND CHEAPER THAN A TAXI THE DRIVER ALSO GAVE US HIS MINI TOUR TALK AS HE DROVE US ALONG. IT WAS A BIT HARD TO SEE IN THE NIGHT BUT THE NEXT MORNING WE COULD WORK OUT OUR BEARINGS AT LEAST.

YOU CAN ALSO BOOK THEM TO PICK YOU UP FROM YOUR HOTEL ON THE RETURN TRIP TO AVALON

    Wayward Bus

by didgeridorien Updated May 13, 2007

This bus gets you from Melbourne to Adelaide or vise versa, taking the Great Ocean Road and the Grampians in two days. The food and accomodation are great and it's a small group, so you actually get to know each other.

    Free City Bus

by Marpessa Written Jan 30, 2004

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

During the summer period (and usually early autumn) there is a free Geelong city bus. It takes you around the main parts of the city (which isn't very large). It can be a good way to get your bearings.

"The circuit commences at Eastern Park, travels along the waterfront, heads to Johnstone Park and the Geelong Railway Station, visits the Geelong Art Gallery and loops through the city's shopping precincts before heading to the Geelong Botanic Gardens".

December to the start of February it operates 7 days a week. February to March it operates only on the weekends.

I am uncertain if there is any commentry.

  • Geelong is only 45 minutes...

Geelong is only 45 minutes drive from Melbourne - the capital city of Victoria. You can get to Geelong by car from Melbourne. Or you can jump on a train and travel down to Geelong by train.
In Geelong there are buses that take you to most suburbs in Geelong. You can hire a car for day trips to see some of our outlying sights and scenery.
