We have an amazing amount of walking tracks in this area. You can do a quick walk around the lakes or head for the bush.
Some of these walks are half day, others will take the full day. Make sure you take something to drink and eat.
Have a picnic in the bush.
There is an abundance of bird life, koalas are usually hiding somewhere up in the gum trees.
In the summer be careful, at times you might see a snake, safe thing to do, is give way to these.
The Daylesford Information Centre has maps for these walks.

    The Blowhole
  • Tip Rating:
  • The blow hole is somewhere you can walk around an area where mining was done many years ago.
The miners diverted the creek through and this tunnel which formed the blow hole. During the summer there is a pool at the bottom of the rocks, during winter after rain the water blows through the tunnel and out giving a great waterfall effect.
You can do a walk around this area.
There are signs there detailing the history of the area.

If you have the urge to go for a swim in the pool please be aware that it's dangerous.
    People have drowned here.

Follow the Newstead road sign, turn left into 18th Street Hepburn.
If you reach the Old Hepburn Hotel you have gone too far!!

When Anne took Andrea and I for a drive to see the Lavender Farm we were too early for opening time at the lavender Farm. So we went touring around the country side.
We ended up at Yandoit and we stopped and took some photos of the Church at Yandoit. It even has an outdor dunny (toilet) with a sign above the toilet reading (buckle your seat belt) - we thought that was quite amusing.

    Living in the Bush
  • Tip Rating:
  • Hepburn Springs is so pretty.

The home where I stayed was at the top of a gully full of trees. Andrea (holidayjunkie) said she thought she was waking up in a zoo - the birds were quite vocal on Sunday morning.

The view from the verandah was amazing - I don't know if I have captured the beauty of the bush - I tried.

    Great accommodation, restaurant and fishing
We ended up finding this Tuki Trout Farm on our last day...to have a bite to eat. It was a great place to stumble upon. It's away from everything else...and trip to get there is quite adventurous...but it's worth the drive.

The have fresh trout and lamb right there on the premises...we walked away with a 1/2 a lamb of fresh meat to take home to our freezer for a great price. We ate dinner there...and had the fresh trout...and it was excellent. The restaurant is in a big cozy barn with a big open fireplace in the middle. The seating is large, wooden booths...and the service is by the family...and excellent.

We checked out the accomodations while were there...and hope to stay here someday. It's expensive...but the cottages are brand new...and some of the neatest accommodations we've seen in Victoria.

It would be a great place for a family outing...as there's fishing for trout on the premises...and it 's out in the middle of nowhere...
