Take a drive out to Hepburn Springs

Hepburn is a little ways out of Melbourne, and public transportation has not quite made it out. Although you would be fine walking or biking in between locations once in Hepburn, you will probably still need to rely on a vehicle to get out to the town.

Also, if you want to make it over to Daylesford, and some of the out of town locations like the Lavender farm, you will want to hire a car.

We were able to drive out to Hepburn from Melbourne and back for about one tank of petrol.

    Driving around Hepburn Springs

Cars are necessary if you want to travel far

Hepburn Springs is a very pretty place - however unless you want to confine your holiday to the main street you probably need some type of transport. Your own vehicle or a hire car would be great as a lot of the places that are ideal to go and see - such as the Lavendula Lavender Farm - are a fair way out of Hepburn Springs and you could be walking for hours to get to some of these destinations.

Car or motorbike is a good idea!

If you haven't got your own transport, you will have only one choice and that is Train
You catch the Daylesford /Woodend train at Spencer Street Station, Melbourne.
When you reach Woodend you will transfere to the bus.

When you are in Hepburn/Daylesford there is Taxi or local bus ( this isn't great)
The Taxi fare from Daylesford to Hepburn would be around $11
Most things are in walking distance, it isn't a big town.
If you ahve booked into a bed and breakfast, I am sure someone would arrange to collect you and your luggage from the bus stop.
