Your skipper Tony, is a 4th generation seaman, a local character with a great sense of humour, he has extensive knowledge of the Gippsland Lakes area and it's most interesting history.
Add to that the Lonsdale's colourful past, and you can imagine that many stories have accumulated over the years.

If you don't feel like skippering your own boat, go on a cruise instead with Peel's Lakes Cruises. Trip starts from 2-4.30pm and tickets can be purchased at the Lakes Entrance Information Center for A$35 per person. To board the ship, look for the jetty in town which is across the street from the Post Office.
This is an interesting journey traveling to Metung, all the way to Paynesville where you can look at waterfront houses belonging to some pretty rich people (some houses were on sale but I doubt I can afford it) and to Victoria Lake before turning back.
Ship is pretty comfortable with indoor and outdoor sitting. It can get quite chilly towards the 2nd half of the trip when the sun begins to set. That's when you head indoors for that hot cup of coffee or tea sold at the counter.

I was watching these birds who were waiting in line so patiently for food to be thrown to me by fishermen who had just completed their day's catch. Of course, there was a food fight as soon fish were given to them!

90 Mile Beach is a long strip of beach with soft golden sand and pretty strong waves. At Lakes Entrance, this is a good place to laze by the beach, get a tan, go fishing and take a walk.
The sand was pretty hot though so you either walk with your shoes on or walk along the water edge. There is a life guard on duty and facilities are being built for showers and changing rooms.

We kept reading about this footbridge so let's check out what's so great about it. The footbridge actually spans Gippsland Lakes' Cunninghame Arm and takes us to the start of the 90 Mile Beach.
As we walked along the footbridge, we saw many golden oldies fishing and having a cup of coffee. I peered into the waters and was fascinated to see jelly fish and quite a number of fishes.
You could walk all the way to the west side to see the lake's entrance but it was really way too hot for us to do us.

I think this is the best time of the day at Lakes Entrance.

This is why the town is called Lakes Entrance. You can view this when you cross over the footbridge to the 90 Mile Beach or take a boat cruise.
