Favorite thing: Check out the Queen Victoria Markets. Located on the corner of Elizabeth & Victoria Streets.
At the markets you will find all sorts of things - fresh produce, clothes, crafts, jewelry, leather goods etc. It's a great place to spend a couple of hours...

Favorite thing: The "Queen Vic" was opened in 1878, but the meat market building has been in operation since 1866.
On Wednesday nights from November to January there is entertainment, bars, food outlets, arts and crafts, masseurs, camel rides, tarot card readers and crystal ball readers. It is a real bazaar.
To get here catch any tram riding north on Elizabeth or William Street.

Favorite thing: visit the Queen Victoria Market, just to the north of the city centre on Elizabeth Street. It's been a market since 1878, so it's a historic landmark in Australian terms, and it's definitely worth a visit! It's mainly open in the mornings and is closed on Mondays and Wednesdays. Lots more information is available from the official website.

Favorite thing: I have noticed alot of members saying things about the queen victoria market and with good reason.
The vic market as us locals call it has a huge range of meats ,cheeses ,seafood and fresh vegetables.
Also there are a huge amount of clothing stores which are most busy on sundays.
I used to live right across the rd from here and call tell you its a shopping delight.
shortly I will get around to giving real info on this melbourne icon.
