The gap between the Mornington Peninsula and the Bellarine Peninsula is bridged by a regular passenger and vehicular ferry service between Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula and Queenscliff on the Bellarine Peninsula. Two catamarans, MV Sorrento and MV Queenscliff, ply the route on the hour throughout the year. Each vessel is capable of carrying 80 vehicles and 700 passengers. This was my first experience driving onto a vehicular ferry.

On my drive along Mornington Peninsula, I came across many lovely beaches along Port Philip Bay. With time to spare before taking the Sorrento - Queenscliff vehicular ferry back to Melbourne via the Bellarine Peninsula, I decided to take a detour to explore the ocean side of the Mornington Peninsula. I was met with this beautiful beach on the ocean side of the peninsula. As expected, the waves were larger and rougher compared to those on the bayside.

The Mornington Peninsula is a peninsula located south-east of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia, surrounded by Port Phillip, Western Port Bay and Bass Strait.
A tourist region with a variety of beaches (both sheltered and open-sea) and seaside resorts, much of the area is now regarded as a part of greater Melbourne.
Like much of Australia, there have been significant plantings of wine grapes recently, and the region's cool-climate varieties (including pinot noir) are quite highly regarded.
Arthur's Seat, located 75 km to the south-east of Melbourne city, is a prominent massif which rises to 305 metres above Port Phillip Bay. There is a viewing area near the summit which has extensive views of Port Phillip Bay with the Melbourne City skyline.
