109 Tram
If you're visiting Melbourne, Port Melbourne is a great place to come and visit for a day or 1/2 day... and it's easy to get to from the CBD. Take the 109 Tram all the way to the end...and it will put you at Station Pier.

On Sundays...they have an all day travel on any tram for $2.50AUD.

    Fishing off Station Pier
If you like to fish...this is a great place to catch fish. Get bait and your license at the Beacon Cove FoodStore...and walk to the end of the pier. There's a ton to watch and see...and the fishing is great.

    Although beware...if you catch a starfish...don't throw it back in...there's a fine!

    #1 Biking Trail in Australia
If you like to run, bike or rollerblade...this is the place to come!

There's a 100K Bike Trail which goes from WIlliamstown down to PortSea. One of the best places to start is in Port Melbourne. You can run or walk along, and the scenery changes along the way. There are plenty of places to stop and grab a bite to eat or drink...and the path is excellent.

There are only a couple spots in St Kilda where its congested with people, but otherwise...it's easy to get around. In most places, there's a separate path for bikers and pedestrians.

If you're a road biker...the entire Esplanade/Beach Road is the #1 biking trail in Oz. Even tho it's not marked...it's understood...The bikers have their own lane.

    Enjoy!

Chill on the Beach with Frest Oysters...
okay....so if I were explaining a perfect day in Melbourne...it would be next to impossible b/c there is so much to do...

but if you're looking for a laid back...take it all in approach...then here's an idea:

Go to South Melbourne Market on Clarendon Street...open on Wednesday's 12-4 or Sat and Sunday from 8AM to 4PM.

This is the best neighborhood market in Melbourne...with the best prices around...and it's only a 10 minute drive (or 20 min bike ride) from Port Melbourne...

The BEST seafood in Melbourne is at a place called, APTUS SEAFOODS...can't miss them...they are on the last aisle...on the corner...and everyone is dressed in blue...and it's huge. The owner is Angelo....tell him hi from Bill and Lesa from the Texas...and order a couple dozen or more of their oysters and prawns. They are yummmy.... Then...buy a lemon or two...whatever sides you want...and a bottle of wine...and bring it down to the beach and chill.

If you want peace and quiet...The Port Melbourne side or down past St Kilda is good....but if you want to be in the action...and enjoy the people watching...nothing beats St Kilda part of the beach.

Walk across the road to Luna Park...and be immersed in the St Kilda streets of eccentric shopping, cafes and all...
