The Prahran markets are great at all times. There are cafes here & the Essential Ingredient store which sells a lot of kitchen goods that are hard to find.
The fruit stores here are a little expensive, even when they are on special at the end of the day. But the reason why I shop here is for the cheap meat thats on sale after 3pm on a Saturday.

Tuesday - dawn til 5pm
Wednesday - closed
Thursday - dawn til 5pm
Friday - dawn til 6pm
Saturday - dawn til 5pm
Sunday - 10am til 3pm
What to buy: There are many things fo sale here including; fresh foods, dips, breads, pasta, organic wines, chocolate, fruit & veg, coffee & much more.
What to pay: $5.00 for a tray of chicken, fish, crabs, sausages plus there are many other deals

an astonishing selection of wine (mainly aussie) for the lower price in melbourne....
What to pay: I found 12 au$ a good "low limit" to have a decent wine
