One of the first vineyards of the modern era in this region, the steep slopes of Mount Anakie were planted in 1968. Currently producing vibrantly fruity wines like the unusual and delicious red made from the Italian variety, Dolcetto.

The small Mount Duneed cellar door is nestled next to a charming garden.

Staughton Vale Vineyard...
Next to Zambelli's vineyard at Mount Anakie, north of Geelong, this vineyard shares it's neighbour's ability to produce richly fruity wines. Again, Cabernet can be the most successful wine and it is perfectly suited to the country lunches and cheese served here in the Cottage Restaurant.

I thought this might be a good place to add information about the local wineries.
Most are located within a few minutes from Geelong, have a resturant or eatery, cater for group bookings, and have a great selection of great quality wines.
Hours are from 10am till 5pm. for most of these.
Scotchmans Hill...
Scotchmans Hill, acquired in 1975 The vineyard produces Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc. They carefully apply modern viticultural and winemaking practices, producing wines of national and international acclaim. Cellar door tastings.

Idyll was the vineyard that kick started the modern wine history of Geelong when it was established in 1966. Kilgour Estate Winery....
One of the region's most full-flavoured Pinot Noirs, to attract you to Kilgour's hillside vineyard. As well as great views, there is a restaurant specialising in local seafood, a barbecue.
Located at 85 McAdams Lane, Bellarine, only a few minutes from Geelong.
Wines on offer.. gold-medal Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
