Pickled Sisters: Lunch on local produce and sip sparkling wine

Pickled Sisters at Cofield Wines won my heart and stomach during our recent visit. We ate lunch on the terrace during the winery visit and dined more substantially at the Rutherglen Wine Show presentation dinner which was catered by Pickled Sisters & was as good as any five course meal for 150 guests that we have experienced.
The menu at Corfield Winery is an innovative one featuring regional product platters and individual dishes to suit all tastes and appetites. For example The Vineyard Platter has Muscat & chicken liver pate, homemade chicken terrine & chutney, local smoked trout, pickled eggplant, local olives, Milawa (local) cheese $22.50.
Some of the individual meals : Char grilled new season Asparagus with parmesan crusted soft boiled egg, white truffle oil and crisp prosciutto $16.00 - plus nine other choices including fish, lamb, beef, duck and chicken all locally sourced $17 to $30.00.
Very tempting Desserts are $11.50
There is an extensive wine list not just Cofield products. Bottles $25-$65. By the glass 15 choices across the range $6 to $9.50.
Open Wed-Mon 10am to 4pm (Friday and Saturday close later at 6pm daylight saving time)

Favorite Dish: The lunch chosen was soup and breads followed by regional product platters. We were a group of 12 eating outside on the terrace. Despite the large table, Service was very good. We all enjoyed the soup and the platters were excellent.
Cofields specializes in sparkling wines so a couple of bottles of their product went down very well after an obligatory palate cleansing ale from nearby Beechworth Brewery.

Local boy (born across the road) Michael Murtagh has put his heart and sole into Vintara having done a lot of the building construction as well as tending the vineyards.
He has employed a top chef, Gavin Swalwell, to run the kitchen. In my book, a wonderful choice if the quality of fare presented to our group at lunch is any indicator.
The lunch menu features nine choices ranging from soup ($10) to Eye-fillet of beef creamed leak, slow cooked cherry tomatoes and fondant potatoes ($32). Other choices include Gnocchi with Rabbit confit ($29) fish, duck, and quail. Sides $6. Daily specials and desserts on the board.
Ambience is modern, slick, aluminium and tinted glass backed by rammed earth main walls and with a delightful view over vineyards and distant mountains.
Service was cheerful and attentive.
Owner, Michael gave us a full briefing and tasting of his complete wine and beer range .
Vintara winery and brewery is open 7 days 10am to 5pm. The Vintara Restaurant is open from Thursday to Monday for breakfast and lunch from 9.00 am. The Restaurant also offers fantastic tapas, coffee tea and cakes on these days.
Wheel chair access.

Favorite Dish: After wine and beer tasting, we ate regional produce supplemented by product from other areas of Victoria made up in the Chef's Platters and green salads with home made pickled vegetables ($26). This platter included vietnamese rolls filled with glass noodles, veg and chicken or pork; marinated octypus; prawns; chirozo; a sample of truffled chicken filled pasta; a slice of quiche and a selection of local olives.
Washed down with Vintara wine - very hard to beat. I'm salivating just writing about it.
