Blowhole by dlandt There is also a cemetery here, but I don't like using the dead for entertainment. When the blowhole is active its supposed to be really something. The Loch Ard section is quite large, and to walk from one end to the other and back is probably three kilometers, if not more. Plan to spend some time here. Leave a Comment

Luna Park, St. Kilda Beach by windsorgirl St. Kilda beach is a great place to spend an afternoon. It has a large beach and the Esplanade is a great place for cycling or walking. St. Kilda is also known for it budget accomodations and restaurants. Here is where you will find the colourful, if somewhat creepy clown of Luna Park. You enter through the clown's mouth to find classic carnival rides including a roller coaster and ferris wheel. Luna Park first opened in 1912 and is now open on weekends and school holidays. Leave a Comment Directions: St. Kilda is easily accessed by trams from Flinders St Station and Spencer St Station. It is only 2.5 kms southeast of the city centre.Website: www.lunapark.com.au

Loch Ard by dlandt Loch Ard is actually the name of a ship that wrecked along the coast, leaving only two teenage survivors. This is one of the larger sites along the road, and when you arrive here, you probably have a few miles to walk in order to see everything. Leave a Comment Directions: East of Pt. Campbell

Macedon Ranges and Spa Country by ATXtraveler If you are starting your trip by landing in Melbourne, you may want to head Northwest from the airport rather than Southeast into the City. This is the direction you want to head if you are interested in visiting the Macedon Ranges and Spa Country. This part of Victoria's geography consists of rolling hills and small historic towns with an interesting range of activities from wineries to bed and breakfasts. Some of the small towns in this area that are worth a visit are: Bacchus Marsh Ballan Blackwood Daylesford Gisborne Hepburn Springs Kilmore Kyneton Lancefield Malmsbury Melton Mount Macedon Romsey Sunbury Trentham Woodend Leave a Comment

Bath Houses, Melbourne by windsorgirl It is well worth a detour to these colourful beachfront shacks, especially if you enjoy photography. But don't think about buying one, when I was last there they were selling for about $75,000 Australian. Leave a Comment Directions: Brighton Beach is located about 10kms south of the Melbourne City Centre.

by victorwkf I have seen photographs of beautiful rainbows at the 12 apostles after a light rain, giving an additional twist to the beauty of this place. Unfortunately, I did not see the rainbows but hope you have better luck. Anyway, the 12 apostles are awesome no matter which mood they are in. Leave a Comment

The Arts Centre from the RBG by windsorgirl If you know me, you know that I love flowers and gardens and almost always make a point of visiting gardens on my travels. This trip was no exception. I enjoyed the walking trails through this 36 acre park, as well as the views back onto the city, as pictured here. While on your walk, look up into the trees to spot gigantic bat-like creatures hanging upside down from the branches. There are many flying foxes residing in the RBG. Leave a Comment

The Twelve Apostles by windsorgirl This scenic stretch of road travels for 200kms along Victoria's southern coast between Torquay in the east and Warnambool in the west. You pass some wonderful beaches, good surfing, pine forests and spectacular coastal scenery including the Twelve Apostles, although only seven remain. The best time to view them is at sunset. Leave a Comment Directions: The start of the Great Ocean Road in Torquay is a 1.5 hr drive southeast from Melbourne

Beach at Gibson's Steps by dlandt We made Gibson's Steps the last stop. It's a long climb down to the beach but well worth the effort. We have more pics inthe travelogues, but it was a nice way to end the day. If we'd gone earlier in the day, it might have been crowded because you could see the parking stalls for the tour busses and signs in Chinese, but when we went it was fairly deserted. Great views, great exercise! Leave a Comment

Sorrento Back Beach by windsorgirl Sorrento is a popular holiday location for Victorians. They are attracted by the rocky coastline, surfing beaches and turquoise blue waters. It is also popular with the seagulls as you can see from my photo! Leave a Comment Directions: Sorrento is located on Mornington Peninsula 112 kms south of Melbourne on Port Phillip Bay
