One of the most undemanding but worthwhile things in Warburton is to simply walk along the river and 'be at one with nature' :). It's simple, it's easy, it's rewarding.

This footbridge in the middle of the town crossing the Yarra is something of a landmark in the area.

'Donna' is the closest snow that usually comes to Melbourne. 1245 metres high, there's the tobaggan runs for the kids at the top. There's also a 20 metre high lookout tower, which gives terrific views over the surrounding countryside.

Yarra Ranges National Park - Lookouts

After entering the National Park (about 7kms out of Warburton), there are 3 lookout points along the road to the peak. They're little more than clearings through the trees (and easily missed!), but make sure you pull over. The 2nd lookout (yep, we missed the first :)), gives you a fantastic view over Warburton itself.

The National Park has few access points, the spectacular rainforest being heavily protected. Warburton provides one of the few roads into the park and the drive up to Mount Donna Buang is, quite simply, stunning, driving as you do through enourmous Mountain Ash trees as you wind your way up the hillside.

The town itself

Park the car and simply walk round the town. Its essentially a one horse town, so you won't get lost. The Yarra river winds through the town, and paths enable you to walk along the banks. Towering over the town on both sides are the splendours of the Yarra Ranges, with Mount Donna Buang at 1245 metres a dramatic backdrop.

The Good Food Room: Organic

In a place where there's heaps of spiritual crystal shops and alternative spas and health shops, an organic deli and cafe is no real surprise. Moreorless exactly what you would expect: a slightly ramshackle place with veggies and fruit, olive oil etc for sale at front: coffee and snacks served from the counter, lots of breads and cookies etc. Good coffee too!

Favorite Dish: Only had coffee but the food looked good.
