Pemberton is to the east of Augusta. The area is better known for its beautiful forests. This is a major timber mill town and has the largest sawmill in the southern hemisphere. The trees grown here are Karri, Jarrah and Marri. There are plenty of craft shops in the town especially of the wood craft nature.
.
The Gloucester tree is well known and is 60metres high. There are metal rods which spiral the trunk and anyone can climb it. These trees were the "fire watch tower" trees and were used this way so that bush fires can be spotted far off.
