  • It is around 30 degrees every day during summer, and so you will not need a lot of clothes. Then Mum arrived in Broome (from the coolest state SA) dressed in a skirt, stockings and jumper, she soon immediately noticed how hot it was. Everyone else on the tarmac was dressed in shorts and light clothing!

    Take plenty of sunscreen and mosquito repellant.

    You must take with you as a precaution Antihistamines, the sand flies come out at sunset every day and you are vitually biten all over. The other precaution recommended is to take vitamin B

  • Shorts and thongs are standard dress in Broome.

    Sun blocksun block sun block!!! It is very hot!!

    Insect repellant is a must!

  • You should bring with you, a hat or umbrella to shade off the sun, suitable cotton clothing to wear during the beautiful warm sunny days and suncreen to wipe over your arms and other exposed areas. A cool long sleeved cotton or light linen shirt want go astray, especially if you intend to spend the day out on the water as you will end up very sunburnt without protection.

    If you're going on a safari tour for 3-4 days take a soft luggage bag (no more than 15 kg in weight) and a back pack for the day treks.

    I travelled in June but found though the days were a beautiful 29-30deg C the evenings were quite colder than I'd expected, so do take the track suit, socks & sneakers and long trousers. If you're going into the Bungle Bungles take a really warm jacket! Brrrrr!!!

    Remember to take your own medications and don't forget your sunscreen and hat. I always carry my own insect repellent, bandaids, antiseptic cream and something for insect bites (just in case)!

    Take the digital, video or whatever you can because the scenery is just spectacular in the Kimberleys.

    Take good walking shoes (sneakers) with socks. Don't forget your torch and extra batteries.

    Broome Visitor Centre are extremely helpful if you need any info on where to stay, how much, availability and tours.
