Fishing of the Prawn Jetty in Carnarvon can provide some great sport, we caught some good size GT`s plus plenty of Bream and other speices as well. You can use bait or lures we caught fish on both and if it`s reef sharks that you want try using live bait.
One mile jetty can provide you with some great Tailor sport the best time to catch these are when the sun is then going down, about half way down the jetty you can get right down to the waters edge making life a bit easier and use shiny lures reeling them really fast the Tailor love to chase them and if you do get one the are really nice to eat so happy day`s .
The Kurni-ku vessel will also bring you out to the outer reef for snorkelling in the open waters. If you are lucky, you will be able to see some reef sharks which the guide will lead you. I didnt swim out with them as the currents were too strong. I snorkel around the reef near the vessel. Beautiful coral and fishes.
Hop onboard the Kurni-ku, a vessel operated by Coral Bay Ecotours that takes you out for snorkelling, visit to a turtle sanctuary and a swim with a manta ray.
Cost for the 5 hour journey is AUD$120. Well if you get to see whatever you should, the cost will be worth it. I did get to see a manta ray. You can see the outline of the manta ray in the picture. It was really huge.. I think about 3 or 4 metres wide!
There are different scenic flights with varying journey times operated by Coral Bay Ecotours. I would recommend taking the 30-minute joy flight which provides you with superb aerial views of the land, coastline and outer reef of Coral Bay.
The cost depends on the number of people. The plane in used is a 4-seater plane including the pilot seat. The cost per flight is AUD$180 so if you have 3 passengers, the cost is lowest at AUD$60 per pax. If you, you will have to pay a higher fee. If you have taken another tour with Coral Bay Ecotours earlier, you will be entitled to a discount.
If you do not feel like doing anything, just laze at the beach, relax and admire the beautiful scenery of the place. However, I would recommend being involved in activities like snorkelling or scenic flights.
The Kurni-ku vessel will bring you to this sheltered lagoon at the outer reef. This is a turtle sanctuary. You will see many turtles swimming at the surface of the waters of the lagoon.
