domestic flight by vtveen We arrived from Uluru at the Domestic Terminal and left for Singapore from the International Terminal of Perth Airport. There is really a huge distance between these two terminals. One should be aware, specially when coming to Australia from abroad and having a connecting domestic flight. All customs (passport and luggage) and Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service will be handled in the International Terminal. Sometimes both checks can be very time consuming; added by the transfer by shuttle bus between the terminals one need really much time in Perth Airport. To/from Perth Airport is located about 15 km’s outside the city of Perth and about 30 km’s from Fremantle. Both terminals are serviced by taxis and shuttle buses to/from accommodations in both Perth and Fremantle. We had a taxi to our accommodation in Applecross for about AUD 35,-. Shuttle buses to Perth/Fremantle are about AUD 15,- per person. There is also a public bus running between the city centre of Perth and (only !!) the Domestic Terminal. by ATXtraveler Fremantle is a suburb of Perth, and is easily reached within an hour of the airport. Perth, Western Australia is unique for many different reasons, but in particular, this city's airport is truly the most isolated international city on Earth. It is very difficult to reach Perth by Air, although it is constantly being made easier through multiple international carriers creating flights here. Western Australia's airports are actually equal flying time to Singapore as Sydney. Each being a 5 hour flight from this isolated city! Perth however is a major launching pad for alot of Southern Hemisphere Australian travel, housing the international legs of Air New Zealand, Air Mauritius and South African Airways. Perth also serves Asia with Emirates, Cathay Pacific, Royal Brunei, Garuda, Singapore, Thai, Tiger Airways and of course Qantas. Leave a Comment

FremantleTrainStation by xuessium There are 3 ways to get to Fremantle from Perth besides driving: 1) By train - catch an electric train from Perth Central Station to Fremantle. The trip takes less than half an hour. 2) By bus - Transperth buses leave from various stands in St George's Terrace and will take you to Fremantle via either the Canning or Stirling Highway. 3) By ferry - catch a ferry from the Barrack Street Jetty in Perth and enjoy the sights from the Swan River as you cruise to Fremantle. I caught the train, just for the fun of it. It was A$2.80 one way circa 2001. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

Fremantle is pretty small to get around. You can walk to most sights. However, if you really feel tired or felt walking is beneath you, fret not. The free Fremantle CAT buses to the rescue. The Fremantle Clipper completes a circuit around the city of Fremantle stopping at popular places of interest, offering easy access to major attractions and venues. The service is fully accessible with vehicle kneeling action at the curbside, driver activated ramp and low floor design, with the added comfort of fully air-conditioned vehicles. Buses have been coordinated with train arrivals and departures. Frequency of the CAT service - every 15 minutes. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

by keeweechic The parking ticket system is mostly around the Fremantle area so look for the ticket boxes. The length of time varies depending on the street/area and there is a maximum in some places of only half an hour. Check before you start putting your coins in. The ticket you receive will show your allotted time for leaving the pace. You need to put this on your dashboard in easy view. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

by keeweechic There are tram tours around Fremantle running on the hour with full commentary. Trams West will take you past many of the historic old buildings, a lot were built by convicts. You will also go to the Fremantle Museum and Arts Centre and out around the harbour area. There are a variety of tours and they depart from the Town Hall every hour and last roughly around 45 mins. by keeweechic Driving around Fremantle is fairly easy but there are quite a few one way streets. There is plenty of parking which are either 2 hour free parking buildings, street parking with a meter or sectioned off parking which is by a ticket system whereby you put your coins in for a certain amount of time and receive a ticket which you place on your dashboard. Most things are within walking distance so its best to park your car and just walk. . Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home
