 | Fremantle Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 68 | | This is not a luxurious restaurant with selubrious decor etc, but a very popular cheap eating place. If you're not familiar with this type of foodhall, it's a dozen or so little stalls inside a large hall which all share the tables in the middle. The furnishings are basic and the table close together, but there is also an outside area in the street with shady trees which is quite pleasant.(see photo) There is a variety of cuisines including Asian, Japanese, Italian and Indian. Between 12 and 2 it will be very crowed and noisy. You will have to queue at the stalls to place your order (there's always a long queue at the Japanese stall.) Good for a late lunch (when it's not so busy) after spending all your money in the shops. NB It's only open on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and closes at 5pm.
I love the teriaki fish from the Japanese stall. A lovely piece of white fish in tempura batter with teriake sauce, served with rice and a little salad for only $6.50au. For 50c extra you can have a bowl of miso soup as well. My daughter tried the tempura mix with oodon noodles in soup, that was good too. These portions are not large, but quite adequate for lunch, If you want a large plateful, try the 'combination' from one of the Asian stalls where you can have a spoonful of 10 or so different dishes on the one plate for about $10au. Apart from the wide choice of seafood meals (and great fish n chips :-) the restaurant has a world class display of aquariums with over 50 species of marine life all caught in Fremantle waters. The restaurant is large and comfortable and has indoor and outdoor tables. It also has an Upper Deck with tables where you can get a nice view of the Fishing Harbour and the ocean. I visited both Cicerello's of Mandurah and Fremantle and enjoyed both.
Fish n Chips...what else :-) I also tried the Dim Sims, potato cakes and chiko roll which were all great. The food is nice and fresh and perfectly cooked. They also have fresh fruit juices and a large selection of desserts. Their Cappuchino is wonderfully made...I've never seen anyone giving so much attention to a cup of coffee! NOTE: Since I first posted this tip, La Tropicana has changed hands. Although the wonderfully friendly man has gone, the new owners seem to be keeping the vibe of the cafe going and have introduced regular live music as well. La Tropicana is tucked away in a corner of Fremantle near some of the best op shops. It has a nice open front and is full of mimatched retro furniture, old arcade games and memorabilia. It is a bit of an 'alternative' joint, but not at all uncomfortable for people non-Freo-bohemian types. The man who runs it is very friendly and helpful. The menu is simple but good, sandwiches and salads mainly, as well as coffee, cold drinks and cakes. It's a great place for a relaxed coffee in a funky part of Fremantle.
Banana smoothies - ice cold and made with ice-cream and honey. Really thick and yummy. Leave a Comment Theme: CoffeehousePrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: High Street, FremantleDirections: Just across from Myer/Town Hall, on your right

This would have to be one of my favorite restaurants in Perth! Nice feeling to be there, you hear Turkish traditional music playing in the background while enjoying delicious and halal Turkish cuisine. Belly dancers are also there to perform occasionally. Last but definitely not least, the turkish coffee is HEAVEN!
i don't have a favorite because all their dishes are awesome! can't get enough of em. try the turkish coffee , it's like strong, sweet, 'cooked' espresso =) Leave a Comment Theme: Middle EasternPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: FremantleDirections: near Hungry Jack's, off cappucino strip

With its Italian influence and relaxed ways, Fremantle's the obvious place to head for for an for icecream or gelato fix. Strolling down the Cappuccino Strip with a big cone packed with your favourite flavours is a "Must Do" for locals and visitors alike. Gelare, Amano's, Gelatino, Cold Rock all take great pride in their delicious gelato. They're all either on or very close to the Cappuccino Strip so the one you choose is more likely to be a question of which one is closest when the icecream munchies hit.
I look out for unusual and delicious flavours such as prickly pear and rose petal. Macadamia's always a favourite and Baci or Tiramisu set the taste buds drooling. Leave a Comment

The E Shed Markets are located in an historical warehouse right on the Victoria Quay Wharf near the CBD. Here you can eat indoors or on the alfresco terrace overlooking Fremantle harbour. Here also you can enjoy inexpensive but tasty meals at the food court with a range of stalls selling Indian, Chinese, Japanese, kebabs, a carvery or traditional Aussie fare. Hot crepes, ice creams or freshly squeezed fruit juices are available from the "Juice Bar". Sandrino's is a very nice Italian restaurant. It has an alfresco dining area as well as indoors. The decor/theme is very authentic Italian. Staff are attentive, efficient and friendly. With the restaurant being just off the main road through Fremantle, it's not too noisy with passing traffic as some others on the main strip can be. Prices are very reasonable and portions are large! Undercover parking is available on Collie Street which is just a block away.
On this visit I had the Seafood Risotto which was delicious, of course I could only eat half because the servings here are extremely generous. The prawns in it were so fresh and cooked so perfectly that they just "popped" in my mouth when I bit into them. There were prawns, calamari and mussels in a tomato base. ($19) My friend had the Barbecued Seafood which consisted of a huge plate of mussels topped with 3 grilled prawns in the shell, a fillet of fish, some calamari and 3 more shelled prawns on a skewer. All was dressed with a balsamic dressing which ran down to the lettuce on the bottom. ($25) She loved it. We shared a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc which was only $28. I have eaten here previously and had the Calamari ($17) which was very nice. Leave a Comment

The Old Shanghai Food Hall is right outside the Fremantle Markets. There is a good choice of eateries with a central area for dining or there are tables and chairs outside where you can usually be entertained by buskers. The food is fairly inexpensive and there is a bar there also which is open Wednesday to Sunday. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Just off South Tce next to Freo Markets

Cicerello’s is well known for its Fish and Chips and even eating them out of butchers paper. The boatshed style building was rebuilt in 1997 and faces Fishing Boat Harbour. Their menu offers freshly caught oysters, mussels, crabs and crayfish and either fried or grilled. Salads also come with some of the meals or you can order them separately. The boardwalk has old jarrah tables and chairs to sit and enjoy the harbour activities while you eat. Inside the décor is laminex tables on a concrete floor.
