by keeweechic It seems that Joe has moved Downunder… after experiencing his restaurants in Texas, I found a version of it here in Fremantle. The restaurant sits over the water overlooking Fishing Boat Harbour and you can either eat inside in air-conditioning or outside on the deck. Joes is licensed and you can get anything from local or imported beers, spirits, cocktails or try one of Joes mean Margarita’s Leave a Comment Theme: SeafoodAddress: 42 Mews Road, Fishing Boat Harbour

Little Creatures Brewery is housed in a large tin shed. In one half is a real brewery which displays large vats through a glass partition. The pub is supposed to be modelled on a Seattle brewpub. The brewery produces Pale Ale, Pilsner & Amber Ale but there is also a long wine list. The menu includes lighter snacks to meals of seafood, wood fire pizza, ribeye steak etc. There is also a gallery which displays new artists exhibits every month. The bar and restaurant is open from 10.00am to midnight Monday to Friday. Saturdays and Sundays from 9.00am (breakfast/brunch) to midnight. They don’t take bookings. This brewery/restaurant has a buzz about it. It is lively, yet relaxed. Funky music plays, but not so loud that it interferes. We visited Little Creatures for lunch and sat on the balcony overlooking the water which added to the atmosphere. People all around us, yet it was not too noisy. It has alfresco dining, so you get that fresh, outdoors feel. Otherwise you can sit inside or under the olive trees at the front of the restaurant. There is also an art gallery upstairs. This is a typical example of Perth people being casual and doing some of the things they like best. This is the Perth way of life. The staff are particularly friendly and efficient. We were very impressed by the way they did their jobs.
Although we are not beer drinkers, Steve had a few pints of the "Pale Ale" for $7.00 each. He really enjoyed it. There is a wine list available too. I drank the NZ Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc for $6.50 per glass. Bottles are available for $30. It was a very nice wine. We tried the grilled cajun squid with lime coriander mayo for $16.00. I was not overly impressed with it, however and would give it about 7/10. We then had an atlantic salmon, creme fraiche and capers woodfired pizza for $18, which was ~nice, I'd rate it at about 7.5-8/10. We had the harissa spiced lamb with melanzane and fetta pizza which was delicious and rated at 9/10. The menu is extensive with some interesting combinations such as: haloumi, chickpea and watermelon salad for $13.00, blue cheese, pear and rocket pizza $15.00, marinated kangaroo with bush tomato chutney $16.00. As with all restaurants in Perth, GST is included and no extras are payable unless you would like to tip your waiter (but not necessary). Leave a Comment

by keeweechic Pizza Bellaroma is definitely one of the popular restaurants in Fremantle at any time of day or night and you usually have to wait for a table but its worth it. Their pizza's are well known and a large pizza is more than enough for two and good value. Try some of their other dishes as well such as the calamari, you won't be disappointed. by keeweechic Bennys is a lively and popular spot right on the cappuccino strip. It tends to therefore get noisy on their busiest nights. Live bands entertain on four nights of the week. Classic 70’s and 80’s dance tunes are played from 9.pm to 1am on Saturday nights. The menu is definitely Italian and with very good choices. Some of our meals got a little muddled but I think it was a one off thing and everything was rectified very quickly. Benny’s is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7.30am to midnight. They also have an impressive list of cocktails Leave a Comment Theme: ItalianAddress: 10 South Terrace, Fremantle

by keeweechic This is the original Dome Cafe which was founded in the late 1980s and very popular right on the Cappuccino strip. Their specialty is their variety of coffee but they also provide meals with an Italian flair and they are fully licensed. The decor is easy going with painted tiles on the walls and wooden floor boards and they will provide newspapers and magazines for you to read while you enjoy your coffee. Open : Sun-Thur 6.30am-11pm, Fri & Sat 6.30am - 12pm. Leave a Comment Theme: CoffeehouseAddress: South Tce, Fremantle

by keeweechic The Norfolk Hotel was originally called Oddfellows when it was established in1887 for the growing need of the city's population during the gold rush years. Today the hotel is still very popular probably more so as a restaurant/pub rather than for its accommodation of single, double and family rooms. Over the years many alterations were made to the building and during the America's Cup in 1986, the present renovations took place. Inside there is a large fireplace and you can play pool or backgammon. Outside is a large covered courtyard for outdoor drinking and dining even in winter. It can get pretty noisy on the busy nights. Also underneath the Norfolk is the Basement Lounge which provides a variety of entertainment. On Friday nights, there is a DJ with plenty of dance music, Saturday provides live original acts and Sundays are for special events or touring acts. They have a la carte menu which is available 7 days a week from 12.00 noon to 9.00pm. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: 47 South Tce, Fremantle
