  • The Settlement

    As part of the settlement there was a bakery, hospital, store and lockup. The settlement was closed in 1857 after the convicts came down with scurvy due to lack of fresh vegetables. Some were sent back to Fremantle and some to Greenough.

  • Other Historical Buildings

    There are other historic buildings which can be found at the foot of the hills. Many of the buildings were constructed out of limestone and built by the convicts. Some of these buildings have been restored, some are left in ruins.

  • Lynton Hiring Station

    As you travel on the road to Port Gregory you will come across some derelict buildings and old ruins. One of the ruins belonged to the Lynton Hiring Station.   • Soaring Sand Dunes

    Behind the beach are huge white sand dunes which are a great place for kids to do some sand surfing. So of these dunes are 1015 metres high.

  • The Beach

    Just off the beach is 5kms of coral reef which provides shelter and safe moorings to both the private and commercial boats. The wooden jetty was built in 1980. The beach is popular for all kinds of water activities. Beach covers provide a little shade to the hot summer days.

  • Sunset Colour

    Some areas of the lake are partitioned off for the collecting of the beta-carotene. Probably the best time to see the lagoon is late in the afternoon as the sun is going down. The colour changes dramatically from a pink to a darker reddish/purple.

    If coming from Geraldton, take the Port Gregory Road until you see the turn off and the causeway (110kms). If traveling from Kalbari, take Grey Road until the turnoff and over the causeway (60kms).

    Pt Gregory has some great fishing opportunities with catches such as Mullaway, Tailor, Whiting and Herring or crayfishing when it is in season. There is a large fleet of cray boats operating out of the port.
