  • Saltimbocca is possibly the best resturant in Kalgoorlie. Tucked away on Egan st it would be easy to pass it by as it is a very descreet looking grey building. Once you step inside it is a cosy intimate resturant with a lot of atmosphere. It is a little bit on the dark side so you cant really see what your eating but all in all it was an excellent night out. the pricing isnt so bad either for the 3 of us it came to $117AUD. we had 2 bottles of wine, shared an entree between the 3 of us and had a main each.

    Went to the resturant again and for 5 of us it came to $270 we shared a tasting plate, had a main each, a bottle of wine, a couple of beers, 3 dessetts...so not bad and again the food was excellent...the menu was slightly different but still amazing!! i think they change the menu quite often...which is great!!

    The Proscuito pizza we had for entree was to die for. I had the Scallop, Haloumi and chorizio salad for my main (entree size though) Berni had the scalopinin....which she let me try a piece and the meat just melted in my mouth! James had the wrapped chicken breast.which also looked devine. All the dishes we had were excellent and we were highly satisfied.

    Hogs Breath is a great casual café, and a good Aussie chain of restaurants. In Kalgoorlie.. on a Sunday night, we were looking for somewhere just to have dessert and coffee.. easy usually, but not in Kalgoorlie. We stopped at Monty’s but nothing tempting there, asked a local and found even the Dome was closed so we drove around and on the way to Boulder we found Hogs Breath. If you are wanting a full dining experience then they do great grills, burgers/wraps/sandwiches, salads and desserts!!! They are probably best described as probably as a steakhouse with the usual memorabilia and shop on the side. We had a banana split which I must admit, took a while to get to us… and finished up with an Irish Coffee which seemed to be a bit of a debate as to how to make it. Still for us at the time was all we wanted and all we could find in Kalgoorlie.

    Monty’s is a 24 hour café on Hannan Street. Originally it was a store which was opened in 1902 and operated by the Montgomery Brothers as an store selling furnishings, clothing and manchester. The store also operated a Lampson Rapid-Wire service plus a flying fox system for cash. It has been a restaurant since 1998. While its handy having a café open 24 hrs, it was surprising that when we decided we just wanted dessert, it couldn’t assist. It is popular for breakfasts or just coffee and cake but most comments is that it is basic in its choices and overpriced.
