The Mandurah Estuary runs from the Indian Ocean, under two bridges and up to the Peel Inlet. Various canals run off the Estuary all with fine and very expensive houses. There are popular fishing spots under the two Mandurah traffic bridges.
Opened in 1997, the beautiful Mandurah Performing Arts Centre hosts many traveling road shows. While I was there a few weeks ago, I saw a very touching Australian drama "The Shoehorn Sonata" about the despicable treatment of Australian nurses during WW II.
The theatre staff are extremely friendly, the acoustics are excellent and there is a lovely art gallery on the premises, as well. Capacity in the larger Boardwalk Theatre is 800; the smaller Fishtrap Theatre accommodates 144.
There are several restaurants very close to the Centre, right on the estuary.

Mandurah Quay is a housing estate built around the Resort looking out over the Peel Inlet. All resort facilities are available to the homeowners.
No school holiday is complete without a trip to Mandurah. A movie & then lunch somewhere with a great view of the water. Or an ice cream from Simmo's ......yum....
The pedestrian footbridge is right by Dolphin Quay. It was opened officially in 2004 and connects the North and South Harbours. It is a link to both the cultural precincts and Mandurah city.
This house was the first in Mandurah to have its home inhouse theatre. Now a number of the homes on the canals have their own theatres.
On the way into Mandurah just over the bridge is a lovely parkside and pontoon that's just great for families.
Kids love water play, and besides the pontoon, there's these jettys with slides into the water at the end. They are very popular :o)
