Having dined at The King Street Cafe over the past six years i have been impressed but my experience this week left a lot to be desired.
Coffee good and service likewise but the lunch time meal was awful. I had the Sweet and Sour pork crepes which turned out to be singular and the pork tasted awful. A very disappointing meal. At $20+ it was not value for money.
The male manager berating one of the male members of staff about the visit from the health inspector the previous day was not something i wanted to hear as a customer. I wonder if the member of staff cut his hair, wore a hat or a hairnet.
Coffee and Toast is great but i will avoid the lunch menu from now on.

I live in Perth so I'd like to send out a warning to visitors. The standards at this place has fallen. I bought a cup of takeaway coffee and it was not only pretty bad, the staff member (unfriendly blond guy with bad acne) got the size wrong, didn't make it decaf as I had requested, and added sugar in. The staff are really rude and clueless too. Avoid the place.

The King Street Cafe is a bit of a mainstay of Perth eateries. It has been around for years and has never lost its appeal.
Situated in an old building along the historic King Street in Perth's west end, it is close to galleries, His Majesty's Theatre and the CBD. The restaurant has plenty of atmosphere, with simple and slightly rustic decor. Open 7.00am for breakfast 'til late, 7 days per week. This restaurant does not take bookings, but enquiries are welcome as to how busy they are.
Service is good. Prices are on the higher end of the scale for a cafe, but the food is very good. It is especially busy at lunchtime or after a show at His Majesty's Theatre, but unlike many places with wooden floorboards, doesn't get too noisy with a crowd.
There is a broad-ranging menu and winelist which has been awarded as one of the top winelists.
Favorite Dish: I had the Kervella Goat's Cheese Pizza with roasted capsicums and fresh rocket leaves. I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was very good value for $17.50. Steve ordered the Smoked Salmon and caper pizza which was not as nice. The menu ranged through to Chicken with Cous Cous, grilled fish and Massaman Curry.
Prices range through to about $34 for a fillet steak.
They bake their own bread at the cafe and it is delicious. You can see the bakery through the glass and the kitchen is open. A delicious range of cakes and pastries are baked daily for the coffee drinkers and sweet tooths.
The website below is not the King Street Cafe's, but it has a great page on it, including menu and prices.

Very high quality food in cafe-style surroundings.
Menu (choice of 6 starters, 14 mains, extras and 3 desserts) changes every week.
Breakfast menu also available. from 7:00-11:30
A large selection of fine wines and coffee are available.
Favorite Dish: I choose the Char grilled chicken skewers, Aloo Titamar and carrot and raisn raita($27.50au). It was absolutely delicious!
The Beef Mussaman curry ($27.50au) also went down well.
Steve and Tina felt that the Smoked Salmon pizza($17.50au) was a little dry, but agreed with Stuart that the Keravella goats cheese pizza ($17.50au) was very good.
The King Street breads with olive oil were also very good.

A large coffee shop with an "old world" charm to it. Coffee and pastries are also available to buy as "take away".
Favorite Dish: Not a main meal I'm afraid, it was breakfast. It was the best toasted fruit bread I've ever tasted in my life! The coffee was fab too.
