Albany, Perth

Albany is located on the down south of Perth. It takes about 6 hours of coach or 4 hours drive to reach there. All i can say is a nice country town with breathtaking scenic views.

I grabbed hold of the opportunity to travel with Joe to his Mom's place during the last summer holiday. (His mom stayed in Albany together with her Shizu dog, Booty.)

Albany has great diving sites and fishing areas.

** Danger notes**:

1)Watch out on those slippery rocks.I had a nasty fell after slipping off those rocks while fishing and of course, I almost dropped into the sea.Joe has to whip out his fishing rod so that I can stand myself up again.

2) Never stand near the edges of the rocks as the wind can be so strong to blow you off in secs!

Other than that, Albany is like a compact town that has everything!

Enjoy some day's in Albany! There is a good local tour guide, ask for Escape Tours... Cool guide! (An old man who knows many many things about Albany)
There is also a good spot for Scuba Diving!
Must see : The Gap , Natural Bridge and the Blowholes

Lived here for 5 years and had a ball. About 4hr drive S/E of Perth. Roads are good but single lane. Not much to see on the way down but great when you get there. Cooler than Perth and is great anytime, especially summer. Plenty of places to see, Albany you need 2 days and Denmark (50km away) at least 1 day.

Don't miss out on Whaleworld, Frenchman's Bay, Bluff Knoll (great view), Middleton Beach, Emu Point (good place for bar-b-q), The Forts and the house next door to Patrick Taylor Cottage.

Albany and the south coast are worth plotting in, so travel south from Perth on Albany Hwy and take in the scenery on the way. When you get there, you'll think you're somewhere else entirely. The coastline is so different and if you start swimming the next landmass is the Antarctic. The ocean is so blue, the cliffs so spectacular and the vegetation so green and dense. Simply wonderful geography and then there are heaps of vineyards around!

Albany is located 4 hours south of Perth and is one of WA's oldest ports.

The is a huge amount of site-seeing to be done including Whaleworld, the Stirling Ranges and The Gap.

Albany is surrounded by amazing scenery from the mountain ranges, bushland to the wild coastline.

Albany is a really nice coastal town with a good atmosphere. When I was there it was the town's Christmas parade. I was on an organised trip so only had an hour or two there.

A beautiful Albany beach. If you go swimming here, bear in mind that the sharks are used to being fed at the now abandoned whaling station in Albany!

Making your way west from Albany you will or should go through the wine country. It is really nice and very green.
