The town offers two free bus services: the blu and the red CAT. Its entire name is Central Area Transit and its symbole a cat. Just my perfect mean of transport as I do really like cats ;-)))
In the picture you can see a kind of pillar which tells you the stop name, the timetable and if you push the knob, in within minutes the next bus arrives.
You can even call for the nearest to come and pick you up!!!
Only check for the hours of service because it mainly operates during the day and only very rarely during the night.

the cat busses r all free in the city centre. one way to get an idea of the city centre layout is get on a cat bus and stay on it untill it returns u to where it picked you up. there are blue and red ones N-S and E-W its a good start

All travel on Transperth, within the central city, is free. This includes transport via the buses, trains and the Central Are Transit (CAT) services.

It is a very authentic idea to have three free bus lines and free train service in city centre. They have used both tourists and the local residents.
