Someone in Pt Denison obviously had a sense of humour. A scarecrow had been erected in this boat moored just off the beach.

Harbour beach is just one of the beaches in the area and was the main beach of the twin towns. The beach is a fairly safe swimming are for children and there are change rooms and toilets available. The other beach moving closer to Dongara is Surf Beach. The beach is safe for swimmers but jelly fish are sometimes found there.

The marina at Pt Denison was completed in 1979 and can hold around 130 craft. It is \ one of the largest marina’s on WA’s coast. It is also the home of the rock lobster fishing boats. There are three jetties which also provide and ideal place to fish off. On the foreshore there is a children’s playground and bbq’s.

On top of the lookout is a memorial to sailors of the area who have been lost to the sea. This obelisk is one of two and the only one remaining. It was built in 1869. Surrounding the memorial is a viewing platform. There is a plaque on the obelisk which names the ships that were wrecked locally. The memorial is classed as a registered place.

Fisherman’s Lookout in Pt Denison is right on the end Leander Point. The hill gives a panoramic view of the fishing boat harbour, the marina and the local area. The town is located on the Batavia Coast.

There is plenty of fishing in Pt Denison even off the beach at certain times. The most common catches are snapper, dhufish, mulloway, silver bream, whiting, tailor and of course rock lobster which the area is known for.
