The Toodyay Tavern has been around forever - but under the new ownership of David Mitchell the old Inn has had some life injected back into it. My family stayed overnight and we had such a great time. The rooms were spotlessly clean with new bed linen and were light and bright. Our room overlooked the river side and what a spectacular view! The Host was very friendly and helpful and we were made to feel right at home. Bar prices were not over inflated and the food was plentiful, hot and tasty and extremely well presented and at a good price. It was Karaoke Night when we were there and my kids - late teens and 20s had a ball!! The whole experience was a pleasure and we would highly recommend the Toodyay Taven.

This is the home of the famous 'snake attack' on Melbourne Cup Day 2002. Built in 1863, the old tavern serves counter meals as well as have air conditioned bars with Fox TV screening all special events. The accommodation has balcony or river views. Apparently in their cellar, there is a well which is supposed to be haunted by a resident ghost. Stick around for the happy hours and the live bands which perform there.
