The church was built by Richard Edwards somewhere between 1838 and 1840. Edwards grave lies in the little cemetery that sits to the front of the church. Many of the graves belong to those European settlers who helped with the developing of the settlement.

The church was built out of local pit sawn timbers, clay brick and initially she-oak shingles which were later replaced by asbestos shingles. The little porch of the church was added later in 1860 along with the Belfry. The first service was held in 1841 on the 19th of January. The church is available for viewing 7 days a week.

The afternoon tour features a slow meandering up the West Swan Road to Maalinup Galley. Your guide will explain the finer points to the valley and more on the Clydesdale horses themselves. There are also a couple of wineries to do some sampling and an ice cream shop.

We chose the afternoon tour of ‘Vineyard Meander’. The wagons hold around10 or so people and everyone gets a turn up front with the driver . Don’t worry if the weather is a bit iffy… they still operate with their weatherproofed wagons.

I have to say that their sampling of Nougat really out did their sampling of wine. They have several different types in small individually wrapped pieces – e.g. Almond Crunchy and Soft, Cappuccino Crunch and Soft and Apricot Soft. These can be bought in varying sized bags. Very nice.

This winery is actually situated in the old Evans & Tate vineyard (before they moved to Margaret Valley) in 1998. Charlies have a great a Cellar Door and a couple of humourous staff to help with the wine tasting.
