Kings Park, Perth

by hopang

Kings Park (formerly known as Perth Park years ago) is located at Mount Eliza on the western section of Perth City. It covers a total area of approximately 1,000 acres. The park contains botanical gardens, State War Memorial, bushland and parkland. Kings Park was founded as early as in 1895. State War Memorial is a sad tourist attraction as it contains the names of the fallen Australian soldiers who died in the First and Second World Wars. Kings Park has a spectacular view of Perth City and Swan River. Don't miss Kings Park when you are in Perth!

Cruise along the Swan River, Perth

by hopang

Swan River flows directly through the City of Perth from Freemantle. It is the largest river in Perth. Take a leisurely cruise between Perth and Freemantle along the Swan River. Simply relax and enjoy the sight-seeing cruise! It has been a very popular activity for local and foreign tourists arriving in Perth. It is considered by many as a must-visit attraction! Most Swan River cruises depart from Barrack Street Jetty in Perth and Port Freemantle in Freemantle. A roundtrip costs approximately US$30.00 per adult without lunch or dinner and lasts approximately three hours. One of the popular cruise operators in Perth is Captain Cook Cruises. You may purchase cruise packages which may include lunch or dinner. The cruise boat will cruise along the popular Millionaire's Row where you will be able to see large mansions along both sides of the Swan River. The boat will cruise through other...

Atlantis Marine Park, Perth

by hopang

Atlantis Marine Park was officially opened in 1981. It was located approximately 60 kilometres north of Perth in Western Australia. It was one of the largest amusement parks in the world. Unfortunately due to financial difficulties, Atlantis Marine Park closed in 1990. Atlantis Marine Park was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful marine parks in the world we had ever seen. We posted this travel tip in our Australia travel page simply because many young people in Australia and the rest of the world have not seen or even heard of such wonderful theme park. Today the site is a white elephant unfortunately! You are welcome to visit hopang's Australia Travelogues and Australia travel pages for more photographs of Atlantis Marine Park in Perth.

Crocodile Safari - Kakadu National Park

by MichaelFalk1969

Most tours to Kakadu include a chance to spot crocodiles on a river cruise. With some tour operators you travel on a big boat with viewing platforms, with others you can cruise in a small motor-driven boat and you are much closer (up to 5 meters to the crocodiles). We did the latter. It was a great experience, but it was scary like hell. Crocodiles rarely attack boats, but the mere thought that they could be anywhere around your small nutshell of a boat was petrifying.I later found out that there are even two horror B-movies ("Rogue" and "Black Water") that deal with tourists left alone after a croc tour in Kakadu, fending off hungry crocodiles (not based on real events though as far as I know). Saw them both and they were quite scary, too.

Sydney - All At sea

by RogerLB

In Sydney I went on a Lunchtime cruise of the harbour. The trip was organised for me by AATKings. The cruiseship was the Captain Cook Cruises flagship, the Australia 2000. This is a large modern ship with, if I recall 3 deck levels for public access, ample dining areas, seating and open deck areas. The first pickup point is the Darling Harbour area where I was immediatly seated at a panoramic window seat for lunch. The second pick up was around Dawes Point at Circular Quay. From there the ship does a circular tour of the harbour before dropping off at the same points. The total duration from the first pick up was about 2 hours. Lunch was a buffet style meal, well cooked, well presented and with plenty of choices. The advantage of joining at the first pick up is that you are about finished lunch by the time the ship leaves Circular Quay to start the loop around the harbour and you are...

Melbourne Tour Operators

by RogerLB

There are many tours and many tour operators in Melbourne. Its a good idea to browse each before making a decision on which to take, but, like so often, you get what you pay for. I found AAAT Kings reliable, and efficient with quality coaches. I used them for 15 or so tours around Australia, 3 from Melbourne and felt that I got value for money and I would certainly use them again on any future visit.
