WHATEVER BALL SPORT YOU LIKE...ITS HERE!!!

by DennyP

SPORT Well. Whatever ball sports you like weather it be any of the most codes of football.!! Rugby League, Rugby Union, Soccer, Cricket.,Basketball, Golf, Tennis, Hockey, Baseball, its all here even you may find the rare American football game!! To visit a sporting venue is not really expensive and usually you will be able to find a ticket at a very reasonable cost even for an International Test Match. Unlike some places in the world where you have to book a year ahead to get a booked seat.. Australia has some wonderful sporting venues and some world famous ones at that....ie: the MCG and the SCG , then there is the Sydney Olympic Park in Sydney. Now named ANZ stadium one of the many huge sporting venues in Australia. Melbourne is a sporting capital in Australia and to attend a game at the "G" (MCG) (Melbourne Cricket Ground) with over a hundred thousand for a saturday afternoon VFL...

WHAT WATER SPORT DO YOU LIKE? THEY ARE ALL HERE.!!

by DennyP

Visitors to Australia come from the four corners of the world.. So they have many different likes and dislikes when it comes to water sport..Most just watch some participate...So, if you are in the latter category most of all the sports that you may like you can enjoy here. Some visitors have no previous experience in the surf(ocean) and find themselves in difficulty very quickly . Every year there are tragedies of drownings caused sometimes by ignorance in the water..Australian beaches are mostly patrolled by our legendary life savers that are mostly volunteers. PLEASE.: TAKE NOTICE OF WARNING SIGNS ON BEACHES. BE WATER CONSCIOUS. DO NOT SWIM WHEN INTOXICATED .. DO NOT SWIM AT NIGHT..SWIM BETWEEN SAFETY FLAGS ALWAYS. The water sports are the most popular with surfing, in some of the best surfing beaches in the world. Most city beaches have surf board hire. Also there is a daily surf...

Barossa Valley

by ettiewyn

State: South AustraliaI visited in: December 2009The Barossa Valley is Australia's most famous wine region, and as it is located close to Adelaide, it makes for a convenient day out of the city, or even a longer excursion. If you are a wine lover, you will love it here: The area has an abundance of beautiful vineyards, and there are many wineries that offer wine tasting. Not only that the vineyards and most of the wineries look very pretty, the valley is also bordered by the Gawler Ranges, and those golden hills make a nice addition to the green vineyards.Another reason why I wanted to visit Barossa Valley was that it has a strong German heritage and tradition. The area was named "Barossa" after a victory of the British over France in Spain in 1811. When the colony of South Australia was established, a few British people moved to Barossa Valley, but many German followed already in 1838....

Cataract Gorge revisited

by iandsmith

Cataract Gorge Reserve, or ""The Gorge"" as the locals call it, is a unique natural rock and river formation within a two-minute drive of central Launceston, albeit over a steep hill.Or, in 15 minutes you can walk from the city centre along the banks of the Tamar River into Cataract Gorge. From here there's a pathway along the cliff face, originally constructed in the 1890s, looking down onto the South Esk River. The main Kings Bridge over the gorge was floated into place in 1867. The First Basin, on the southern side, features a swimming pool and an open lawn area surrounded by bushland. In contrast, in the shady northern side, called the Cliff Grounds, is a Victorian manicured garden where tall trees lord over ferns and exotic plants - nature is enhanced by art. There's a Restaurant and kiosk, rolling lawns and a rotunda, a pub with a view and a footbridge or chairlift to return across...

Townsville & Magnetic Island

by ettiewyn

State: QueenslandI visited in: December 2006Magnetic Island is a very popular island in Far North Queensland. You can get there easily by ferry. I only spent a day on the island, but you can also stay overnight to see more of it!Magnetic Island has nice beaches and bush walking, and also a lot of wild koalas, although I did not see one :-( It is not a very lonely island, though - the villages are highly populated with restaurants and cafés, shopping facilities etc. The good side of this is that public transport is very good: You can easily get around by local bus. The story how the island was called magnetic is quite funny: It is said that Captain James Cook's compass went crazy here ;-)Townsville itself is not only the gateway to the island, but a popular place in its own right. It is the biggest town in Far North Queensland, a military base and university town (James Cook University,...

Airlie Beach & Whitsunday Islands

by ettiewyn

State: QueenslandI visited in: January 2007The Whitsunday Islands are one of the top attractions in the whole country of Australia, and a MUST DO for many travellers. I came here in 2006 and it really was one of the best places I visited during that trip. And that even although I only did a guided day tour and not one of the longer tour where you sail around and stay on a boat!Another option is of course to stay on one of the islands for a longer time. There are seventy-four islands and most of them are unhabited. Among the more famous islands are Hamilton Island, South Molle Island and Lindeman Island. The most famous is Whitsunday Island, where the world-famous Whitehaven Beach is located. This is the island that I visited on my daytrip. The sand really is so white that I could not believe it. What I loved most is the view on hill inlet, that you see in the main picture and the second...

Byron Bay

by ettiewyn

State: New South WalesI visited in: January 2007Byron Bay is one of the main holiday destinations at the Australian east coast, at least for backpackers. It is a beautiful place with a great beach and a famous lighthouse. The walk to the lighthouse along some beaches and cliffs, with wonderful views on the ocean is a must do while staying in the town. If you are lucky, you can even spot whales or dolphins! You can also visit Australia's most eastern point here, called Cape Byron. In the past, it has been famous as a hippie and surfer town, with a very relaxed atmosphere. I loved my stay there in 2007, when I really had the feeling to be at the end of the world, far away from all sorrows and worries, just enjoying life.It now seems as if Byron Bay has been a victim to the more and more commercialised backpacker culture, but I think that it must still be a beautiful place as the ocean and...

ENJOY ALL THE BIRDLIFE IN THE NATIONAL PARKS

by DennyP

BIRDLIFE Australia is know far and wide for its wonderful National Parks and unique wildlife. Also it is known for its amazing proliferation of birdlife. You don't have to be an Ornithologist to enjoy the many clourful species of Birds, Parrots, Cockatoos, Parrakeets , Large and small birds of prey from the little kites to the huge wedge tailed Eagles.small forragers and polinaters like honey eaters and the small parrakeets ...to the small robins and wrens...just so many . Next time you are out and about in an Australian National Park. You will see what I mean..You can't be helped but be taken by these lovely creatures..Take along a small pair of binoculars and make sure that you have your digital camera batteries fully charged ..I also carry a spare memory card.

Noosa

by ettiewyn

State: QueenslandI visited in: January 2007Noosa is a town that fascinated me most because it presents interesting contrasts: On the one hand it is quite a posh town, with many elegant restaurants and shops. On the other hand, there is a wild national park with great walking opportunities and the roaring sea. And then you also have a laid back surfing culture and very relaxed hostels.I visited Noosa for two days in 2007 and it was my base for doing a tour to Fraser Island. But I also enjoyed the town itself. I had a wonderful walk in the national park which I absolutely loved, and I also enjoyed the lonely beaches. The town centre itself and the main beach were a bit too busy for my taste, though. If you plan to visit here, in any case be aware that there have been assaults in the national park and stay safe! The town can easily be reached by Greyhound bus.To read more about Noosa, please...

Quicksilver Reef Cruise

by BigMatt

I would highly recommend the Quicksilver Cruise to the Outer Reef. It took about an hour and a half to get to/from the reef. At the reef the boat docks to a platform from where you can go diving, snorkeling, ride a semi-submersible sub, and more. Just make sure you wear lots of sun screen!
