Hot Air Ballooning, Yarra Valley, Victoria

by TravelPossom

We went hot air ballooning over the Yarra Valley (beautiful wine region) in Victoria and it was magical! An early morning, with an experience like that, followed by a champagne breakfast... can't beat it! Bookings essential. It is very dependent on the weather though - we tried to go twice! In the area there are some superb wineries - I would recommend Chateau Yering because not only does it have amazing wines, it is set on a gorgeous historic estate.

THE GREAT INLAND WAY

by balhannah

Australia has a lot of named Tourist Routes that make it easy for anybody to see the country in the best possible way.One of them is The Great Inland Way, this one is described as taking you through the ochre coloured outback to the crystal clear waters of the Coral Sea.Not a short drive by any means, 2691kms...... it will take you many days to complete if you stop at the wonderful sights on the way.It begins in Sydney, taking you through historical Bathurst, a town worth exploring. The area nearby is great for its vineyards and Wineries at Mudgee.Orange, known for its Apples not Oranges has a wonderful lookout, and further on at Dubbo, is the Open Plains Zoo. You may want to do a short detour into the Warrumbungles National Park, this is well worth doing. You get to visit Outback Australia and the town of Lightning Ridge where Black Opal is mined, and the Australia artist, John Murray...

Fleays Wildlife Park, Surfers Paradise

by hopang

Fleays Wildlife Park is located at Burleigh Heads at Surfers Paradise in the state of Queensland. It was founded in 1952 by David Fleay. The wildlife park is also known as David Fleay Wildlife Park to dedicate to its owner. It is now managed by Environmental Protection Agency. The park is one of the most visited tourist attractions at Surfers Paradise!Fleays Wildlife Park is home to many species of native animals in their natural habitats such as birds, reptiles and mammals. The cute koalas are one of its popular attractions. The trip to Fleays Wildlife Park is certainly educational as visitors can learn a lot about the Australian native animals from the park. Opening hours are between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. daily. You may visit its souvenir shop to purchase some cute koalas in all shapes and sizes.

Tiger Moth Joy Flight, Surfers Paradise

by travelgirl78

This was definitely a thrill of a lifetime. I heard about this excursion and just HAD to do it! You can choose to do just a pleasant scenic joy flight or opt for an exciting aerobatic flight viewing the Gold Coast UPSIDE down from 4000ft. TThe ride is in a 2 seater vintage airplane. The pilot will perform barrel rolls, loop the loops, and other exciting maneuvers if you wish. They provide you a coat, goggles, a leather helmet, and "air-phones" to communicate with the pilot. The flight lasts between 20 minutes and an hour, depending on how much you want to spend. After the flight is over, they present you with a certificate as a memory of your experience. This activity is pretty pricey, but I felt it was well worth it!

Australian Zoo

by JLNomads

Well what is there not to say about the Australian Zoo? This place is amazing. They have a place where you can go feed and pet kangaroos, they also have handlers walking around with all sorts of animals all day that you can pet and ask questions about. You can hold a koala if you want, snake and croc as well. They have a lot of shows to go see and they are also really big on conservation so alot of thier shows try to inform people more about this. There is alot to do and see here, tons of animals that you can come into contact with-koalas, kangaroos(feed and pet), wombats, echidnas, tigers, elephants(you can feed them), camels, farm animals, crocs, dingos, cassawarys, emus.....just a ton of different wildlife!

Uluru - Ayers Rock

by unaS

I used the APT tours from Alice. Included transfer at end of Day 2 to the airport for my flight to Cairns. There is a free brochure available from the site. Similar tour available from others. This one seemed to suit me and my budget best. An excellent guide that emphasized the spiritual aspect of the Red Rock.Do take the morning Mala Walk as part of the tour. Fascinating! Please respect the customs of the people and DO NOT climb the rock!

2 days & 3 nights in Tassie

by unaS

Tasmania of the beautiful scenery and strange wildlife. Tasmania, seperated from the mainland so long that the animals evolved a singularly different way. Marsupials as on the mainland, but what marsupials! So very different they even include predators...We visited Russell Falls a lovely park, green and cool. A quiet pathway along a stream overgrown with native greenery silent as only nature can be - running water and bird life. No traffic, no voices, no human interference...Then on to the 'Something Wild' wildlife park where they dedicate themselves to raising orphans abandoned mostly due to human intervention. The young of 'roadkill', the young of animals destroyed for continuing to use the lands they have always used for feeding upon - only that are now agricultural lands and forbidden to them...Visited the Bonorong Wildlife Park and viewed other native animal life. The birds were...

Sydney Harbour by Seaplane

by Russ60

On our final full day in Sydney we had booked a scenic flight over Sydney Harbour, a great experience which would have been better if the weather had been better, the day before wsa the hottest New Years Day on record 45 degrees Celcius, the following day rain!!!Our flight was booked with Southern Cros Seaplanes and it cost 160AUD per person for a 15 minute flight out Bondi Beach and the back over the Bridge and Opera House before landing back at Rose Bay.

Take a Drive..

by tylercdurden2004

And visit the 12 Apostles in Port Campbell National Park. To get there you must take the very scenic drive from Melbourne Along the Great Ocean Road. This has some of the most spectacular scenery in all of Australia and is very different from that of the North. Rolling hills covered with forests turn into cliffs that abrubtley tumble into crystal clear waters. This all makes for some great and inspiring viewing. The limestone columns of the 12 Apostles and the surrounding cliffs are no exception of this. The only downside this place is the helicopter tours that take off from a nearby field every 3 minutes. They are noisy and ruin an otherwise great atmosphere.
