Flights on Qantas or Air New Zealand are best. I have traveled there by ship. Fares from June thru August, their winter, are lowest. In Sydney, go for a chauffeur driven tour of the town and surrounds in vintage Cadillac convertibles. Ours was a pink, '56, named Maybelline, driven by an Aussie-Italian Elvis! In Melbourne you can take a ride to the Great Ocean Road in a classic Jaguar. Otherwise, take bus tours or train. Driving is last choice--too much to occupy the driver, like kangaroos and other cars on the left side of the road. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

I flew into Syndy and up to Cairns. Australia demands a second trip without the dive gear and a few months to see the sights. There were many people who bought cars to tour in and sold them when they left, with notices on the boards for riders to share costs. Heard the bus rides were long, so I guess it is a matter of personal preference. My return plan will probably include bus, train and internal air travel to get around. Theme: Other

AirNewZealand was a great airline...and i recommend it to everybody....good cost...good meal...good job of taking care of you.....and of course very friendly people. :) Train is a great way to go places....but if your out in the country like aways from Sydney the capatal....use a bus very cheap....great way to get around. NEVER GET A TAXI WHEREVER YOU GO NO MATTER WHAT COUNTRY YOUR IN....ITS CRAZY TO GO IN A TAXI THEY KILL YOU WITH COST....so stick with Train and Bus...:) Leave a Comment Theme: Train

Flying is the quickest way, Changing planes at each airport is simple, By the trains in Sydney, Buy a pass it works out a lot cheaper and can be used for the ferries and buses as well. Fly to each place, it is just as cheapas the trains anda lot quicker. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

Plane is by far the easiest way, though relative of ours are adventurous sailors and are on their way there right now. Australia is so large and diverse that getting from major city to major city is easiest by plane. Within a location, public transit, organized tour or a car will be the choice depending on what you plan to do in the region. Some regions (offshore) will be best accessed by boat/ferry. Biking in some areas (like wine country) would be very pleasurable. Leave a Comment Theme: Train

There are domestic flight between Sydney/Melbourne and Hobart/Launceston regularly. Also you can travel by sea from Melbourne to Devonport. It takes about 15 hours. Except the Abt Wilderness Railway , a historic railway driven by steam power engine, runs from Queenstown and Regatta Point, there is no passenger trains in Tasmania. Rent a car or campervan is the best way to explore Tasmania. Theme: Train

Great Ocean Road, Victoria by DueSer Because of the long distances between the major cities in Australia as well as the kangaroo road hazard, especially early or late in the day, road trips are not a common way to get around. Most people fly and prices are very reasonable making it an easy and affordable way to get around the country. Altho flights from one coast to the other are long, flying up and down the coasts are relatively short - about an hour from Sydney to Brisbane, Sydney to Melbourne, Melbourne to Hobart - and therefore very convenient. There are also pretty good transportation options to and from the airports (for example, Sydney's train system stops at both the national and international terminals and Hobart has the Tiger Buses taking you from the airport into the capital city) making flying an even more viable option. There are exceptions to this, though. The Great Ocean Road in Victoria is perfect for a road trip, as is driving around Tasmania, but to get from one place to the other, consider flying.
