by Krystynn

To get to CAIRNS and ALICE SPRINGS, you can fly with Australia's premiere airlines like Qantas etc. The service you'll get onboard is excellent. Really. It takes just over 3 hours (if my memory didn't fail me) to reach Cairns from Sydney....

by sneeekee

Teleportationr... okay that hasn't been invented yet but the only other way is airfare, uncomfortable unless you can spring for first class travel.. yea right!Great Shuttle services in the Cairns area and taxis are friendly and informative. In Sydney get the multi day City Pass. The bus service is great and the Red line gets you to all the tourist sites and the Blue line takes you up to Bondi Beach. You have axcess to the ferries and don't need any other way to get around. Great city to move in.

by Mengke

Australia of course is reached by air really, cruises are expensive (and time consuming if you want to see Australia!)Travel to Tasmania from interstate is by either sea or air. A weekly airline service also links New Zealand and Hobart. The TT-line Bass Strait passenger ferry Spirit of Tasmania (pic) offers an overnight service from Melbourne to Devonport, and a catameran ferry service between Georgetown and Victoria in the peak season. Flights leave all the Eastern Australian capitals and arrive in Wynyard, Burnie, Devonport, Launceston and Hobart, though if your booking in the UK, I know, it's not always easy to convince the travel agent of that, they often only list Hobart. In Tasmania hire cars are the most popular form of transport for visitors because of the relatively short distances between the major cities and towns. Cars are available from all major centres but they advise...

by megraham

I flew into Syndy and up to Cairns.Australia demands a second trip without the dive gear and a few months to see the sights. There were many people who bought cars to tour in and sold them when they left, with notices on the boards for riders to share costs. Heard the bus rides were long, so I guess it is a matter of personal preference. My return plan will probably include bus, train and internal air travel to get around.

AUSTRALIS ONLY STATE WHICH IS SEPERATE FROM THE MAIN LAND you have to fly or boat it to get there.you can travel on the spirit of tasmania ferry overnight with options of taking your car,or fly which is about 50 mins from melbourne International airport .I flew ansett airlines.kendall airlines also fly smaller planes to Tassie.Going back to the boating options There is also the devil cat which I'm told takes about six hours to get to tassie from melbourne .The spirit of tassie departs from port melbourne pier about 3 times a week.once in tassie a car is by far the best option,it is very easy to get around and traffic is not a major problem even in the 2 biggest cities.tasmania tourist information places have great accom drive deals.

Walking is the best way to see Sydney. It is a marvelous city and you can ride the ferrys from the Quay to Manley and the Zoo etc. They are reasonable and fun. There are also buses that you can get a day long ticket to take you many places. They are colored and you can get to all the beaches on them.

by Pierangelo

Lianas are the best means of transportation to jump into forest pools :-) Rainforest near Cairns is very thick and extremely archaic: many trees and ferns are living fossiles, not modified from millions of years. Man, like in Amazonas, has destroyed great part and damaged it with introduction of new plants and animals.
